@celkavandijk @sltrib Fair point; if we’re applying that standard consistently. Check any IRA, 401(k), pension, or retirement account and you’ll find the same “dirty” investments. If investment exposure disqualifies candidates, the pool gets very shallow, very fast.

@insureutah @sltrib I don't really consider it "smart investing" when someone gives you stock in exchange for greenwashing a dirty project.

@insureutah @KUTV2News Are the STR occupants going to use brackish water; or culinary to drink, bath, flush, irrigate yards? It's another grifter project of STR units.

Yes, subsidence is real — UGS has documented it in Cedar Valley and Beryl Junction. Which is exactly the point: if Zion Shores overdraws the aquifer under their own land, the ground sinks and their $25M lagoon cracks. They bear the risk, not the public. Plus Utah's State Engineer can curtail their pumping if they impair senior rights. The legal and physical incentives both push toward sustainable use.

The Zion Shores project taps a SALT WATER aquifer in Washington County. Unless you're proposing we build a 200+ mile pipeline to pump brine into Lake Powell (a freshwater reservoir), Powell's levels are entirely irrelevant here. The whole point of using a salt water source is that it doesn't compete with the Colorado River system. That's the feature, not the bug.

@nateyamasaki They used 30x the max dose. Any drug at this amount even OTC would nuke your kidneys, liver and kill you.

While this might be good news for Reta users A much better clinically studied renal AKI/CKD intervention is SGLT2i class drug and it’s not close Empagliflozin / Dapagliflozin IME/O on cycle athletes, EQ / Tren etc should take it as a preventative measure

Retatrutide turns on the glucagon receptor. New data shows chronic glucagon receptor activation nearly destroys diabetic kidneys in mice. Blocking it almost completely stopped the disease. The TRANSCEND-CKD data cannot come fast enough. But will it be long enough to prove safety? $LLY $NVO

@tvheidihatch Good reporting on Zion Shores. The brackish aquifer story is exactly right. Water that can’t be used for drinking or irrigation, a $10M private filtration investment, zero draw on public supplies. This is what responsible development in Southern Utah looks like.

A massive surf park is rising in the Utah desert, complete with wave lagoons, rental homes and plans to attract surfers from around the world. But in one of the driest regions in the country, developers say the project depends on a private brackish aquifer that can’t be used for drinking or irrigation, and a $10 million filtration system to make the water surf-ready. Full story in the comments.

@JCanNuSH @ManOnThePen Yes - they gave them 30x higher an equivalent dose than the max weekly dose of retatrutide in phase 3. Most patients can’t even tolerate this amount so it is closer to 60-120x higher.

I’m no pharmacist, but it seems like they dramatically overdosed the mice to get these results. This study injected the mice intraperitoneally with 300 nmol/kg of glucagon twice a day for 2 weeks (so 600 nmol/kg total daily). Lilly’s mouse study maxed out at 30 nmol/kg of Reta (LY3437943) once a day. I realize glucagon and Reta are not identical, but it sure seems like they overdosed the mice with glucagon in comparison to the Reta study. First image is from this Nature study. Second two are from a paper on Lilly’s initial Reta development in Cell Metabolism. cell.com/cell-metabolis…

The study used 300 nmol/kg glucagon *twice daily* in mice — that scales to ~15mg of native glucagon per day in humans. Retatrutide has 0.3x glucagon receptor potency vs native glucagon, and the max clinical dose is 12mg *per week*. You'd need ~50mg/day of retatrutide to match the kidney-damaging signal in this model — roughly 30x the highest studied dose. Mechanism is real and worth watching. Dose gap is enormous. TRIUMPH-Outcomes will answer whether it matters clinically.

Worth reading the full article before weighing in. 🌊 This aquifer isn’t connected to any public water system. It’s brackish, meaning too salty to drink or irrigate. The developers are investing $10M just to make it safe for recreational use, and the water costs them 10x more than district water. No impact on public supplies. No connection to the Virgin River drainage. Smart use of an otherwise unusable resource. 👇

I have been reporting on side effects and deaths related to the vaccine since early 2021. Most of that work was buried by Google and social media companies that blocked my reporting. I would like to see more serious investigative reporting on vaccine safety to improve outcomes for all ages, create pharmaceutical accountability and a meaningful way to track side effects accessible to the public and researchers. kutv.com/news/coronavir…

Why is the mainstream media still silent? Those who approved the COVID shot ignored safety signals and lied to the American public. @CBS, @ABC, @NBCNews, @MSNOWNews, @PBS, @CNN — time to start giving this major scandal the attention it deserves!!!

The future of warfare isn’t coming; it’s already here. Most Americans have no idea how vulnerable we are to low-cost drone tech. Our current defense systems weren’t built for this. The gap between threat and protection is widening every day.

“We have to count [the] number of drones we use, efficiency of each of them, cost to kill for every Russian,” says Oleksandr Kamyshin, the architect of Ukraine's drone program. “The cost of killing every Russian is less than $1000 now.” cbsn.ws/4bOzHXy

Utah's builders deserve enormous credit; they've created one of the most impressive startup ecosystems in the country. Of the major Silicon Slopes unicorns that went public, only Pattern Group ($PTRN) currently holds a market cap above $1B (~$2.3B). The companies have not been good post exit at building long term value creation. Net income (last reported year): • Pattern: -59M thru Q3 • Weave: -$28M • Domo: -$82M • Qualtrics (final public year): -$1.06B • Pluralsight (final public year): -$128M • Instructure (final public year): -$80M We are elite at incubation. Arguably world-class. The next chapter for Silicon Slopes needs to be about building companies that endure. Profitable. Durable. Generational.

Automation will likely take over basic customer service, big spenders and high value clients aren't going to put up with bots when things get tricky. In an automated world, the real luxury isn't faster replies,it's having someone who just handles everything for you. Exceptional customer service will still be a wedge for companies to grow and retain customers.
