India and Indonesia are both 3rd world countries with large populations, but there is a stark difference between the two countries. A thread 🧵 . .

@Ruchi4Tweets That's how you keep her in her place. After she has babies all her ambition/desire will fade away, & then she will be more prone to take on the caretaker role for the ILs. What else. The more dependent..vulnerable...the better & then complain when she becomes frustrated, depressed

@NalinisKitchen Bollywood seems to be full of predatory men& outsider females who fall for the feminist narratives & BS of the bombay elite. Sonam kapoor will be a feminist, but personally she'll be a trad wife, they will all rely on patriarchal structures but use feminism to make money. sickos

Big twist in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar money laundering case. ED told the Delhi court that Jacqueline Fernandez was not a victim, saying she knew about Sukesh’s criminal background and still accepted expensive gifts and benefits linked to alleged crime money. That is a serious claim.

@deebayleaf Yeahh and most girls can't even be vocal about these struggles with their friends. Housework needs to be payable, and recognized as real part time work, esp in Indian households, where culturally keeping it clean and organized is given such importance.

Reminder that the "NRI dream life" is often a trap. My cousin just left her husband and came back to India. She said the reality of moving abroad was just extreme isolation, endless chores and toxic in-laws demanding extra labor to "stay rooted." She mentioned the "clean roads and fresh air" aesthetic faded real quick the second she realized she was expected to be a 24/7 unpaid laborer with zero social life. 🫠 So many young girls are stuck in this but can't leave because of family pressure at home in India.

@wordi25 No as internships. To remove the sense of superiority the non-gig economy people feel. Getting paid more is not the only way to bring in dignity. Read about gojek/gocar in SEA, in India giving dignity is culturally more difficult than financial.

@ishdhart That’s easier said than done. Blue collar jobs have to pay well and to have dignity of labor for people to want to do it

Too many people in India take pride in not doing their own work. The laziness and the entitlement keep compounding. All in the name of ‘I have money so why not’. Except what are you even doing with your free time, your body, your intellect otherwise.

In Lajpat, you can now pay ₹149/hr for someone to carry your bags, wait in food queues, walk you to the metro, find you a place to sit, and even set up a foldable chair. interesting biz !!

@wordi25 +More kids should be encouraged to take up blue collar jobs, early on, esp men, to get rid of the status, classist mindset. We need leaders (parents) who pave the way for that, the current set of wealthy oliogarchs don't seem to care.

@wordi25 This is a very NI mindset i believe. Controlling, classist and no basic respect for human life, they feel the need to exploit the exploitable. They think they are inherently different from their maid, driver, security, or other blue collar jobs, esp north indian women.

@puspailuvtears Better than unemployment aunty. Ask people to be respectful of them that's all. Don't blame the startups that are feeding the gig economy employees and their families, when opportunities in India are already pretty rare, because of the lack of unity.

The gig economy keeps churning out the same idea in different fonts. It's all about exploiting the youth, making them do unproductive labor, while capitalizing on the average privileged class's desire to feel like a colonial master.

@Anshul_Mit You're an optimist or don't care enough. In no other country are groups of 5-10 men, lesser or more attacking women on the beaches, buses, hospitals, cabs, roads. Please understand the seriousness of it, or don't, idc. Good luck!

You are confusing two different subjects here. Physical assaults and crimes against women unfortunately exist in every society, even in first world countries and we need to put an end to that with immediate effect but the post wasnt about that..anyway, have a great Sunday ahead..😊

Women need to learn to coexist with each other rather than blaming men for all their problems. In every role of their life they cant stand being with another woman under the same roof. Be it saas-bahu, bhabhi-nanad, devrani-jethani..even daughters have an estranged relationship with their mothers and dont even get me started on female friendships. So instead of plastering instagram with reels that say “if my son chooses his wife over me, I would have done my job as a mother” how about you teach yourself to live with your son’s wife and not create a situation where he has to choose between the two most important women in his life..

what opinion about women do you have that makes people feel like this???

@Anshul_Mit I am not assuming. An evolved society, a civilized structure, first solves for basic safety (in every other country) then moves on towards addressing for its emotional, mental, other mind related traumas. One-off cases are understandable, but a widespread crisis is not.

@mssakshinarula Women don't love one another(except sisterhood, where no male is involved). She can be a doting DIL, but MIL just wouldn't care, the only pain she'd feel is for her son's suffering. So women who serve ILs, need to understand that no one cares for them, they like the convenience
