@zilevandamme I had permanent residence there. I had a PhD and a “formidable CV”…. But that is an unbelievably difficult country for most immigrants from the developing world. So many would rather sleep in doorways and suffer ignominiously than admit they were wrong …

It seems a “significant number” of the “refugees” want to return to SA “cost of living, family, the overall quality of life & the weather.” A recruitment firm has witnessed a 70% increase in inquiries from those seeking to return over the last 6 months. flip.it/.duHWq

Finally found her 😍 Here is the Iranian heroine nurse who saved 3 newborn babies during the USraeli bombardment of the hospital in Iran: "I was also scared, but I was more worried about those kids. They were lightweight, and the explosion wave could have hurt them badly..."

In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

It’s worse than apartheid. Much worse. It goes to the 2000 year-old definition of holocaust. That’s the only way to explain mass slaughter (for religious reasons) and the complete erasure of social, cultural and spiritual heritage landscape of a people - and the sadism!

Israel is a depraved society far surpassing the racist brutality of the South African apartheid state. It is a criminal entity the likes of which I have never seen before … & I grew up in apartheid South Africa

Five Israeli prison guards who raped a Palestinian inmate-hostage at the notorious torture camp Sde Teiman are being return to military service. Rape of prisoners is widely supported by the Israeli public, politicians, law officers – and now officially by the Israeli army.

Had chat with white man whose family came to South Africa during early C20. Sided with 🤐… now suddenly he is Lebanese and bemoans attack on his “people” in Lebanon. Really? Yesterday you had no feelings for dark-skinned people in Gaza.

@Almostconvinced @OUTsurance Agood, Michael. Now have to sell lenses because buying new body is way too expensive. Will rely on smaller camera. First time ever been impressed with insurance company. Medical aid refused to pay a Pathcare bill - and now they're threatening me. It's been a rough three months.

Generally distrustful of insurance companies. Lost 2 valuable items earlier this week & filed claim with @OUTsurance .... Sad that I will not get one of my big cameras replaced (and now have a set of redundant lenses), but very, very impressed by the professionalism and service.

How many years did Oscar Pistorius serve for firing a gun in a Tashas, Melrose Arch? Asking for a friend. Oh, that's right! It was served concurrently with his initial five year sentence for shooting an actually human being, Reeva Steenkamp. #JuliusMalema

Brilliant. The hypocrisy and sophistry is astounding. 73 000 civilians, including childrenj murdered - a war crime - and not a single word of condemnation. An ICC fugitive and no demands for his arrest. Unconscionable. The DA has never “waited” for any international court to rule before condemnation. Ever. No court has ruled against Iran. No court has ruled against Putin. No court has ruled against Xi. And yet they are regularly condemned, and correctly so, when gross human rights abuses are revealed. What this reveals is quite stomach-churning. You are willing to compromise your principles if the price is right. You are willing to turn a blind eye - even to a genocide - if your palms are greased. There is no moral high ground on foreign policy you can ever claim again. You can be bought by rogue nations, just like you have accused the ANC of being. At least it is honest about where it stands. Stand on business.

@TheNewsAgents fascinating listening to the listing of tyrants and @maitlis lists Putin, Xi, “ayatollah” with no mention of Netanyahu. Four decades in journalism and the last time I witnessed this occlusion was during apartheid era….

One of the most brutal scenes in human history has been exposed. Israeli soldiers opened fire on thousands of starving Gazans as they ran in desperation for a piece of food during the war on Gaza. A moment the world must never forget.
