@Rothmus I was going to say delivering death err i mean democracy to poor people but actually we spend stupid money on that. Maybe violent revolution but i guess the cia doesnt really count as government, maybe a shadow gov.

Being Libertarian
Being Libertarian@beinlibertarian·
Open or controlled borders? That’s the question, and it’s a hot one right now in the libertarian realm. The answer may not be as simple as we would like and the question isn’t a new one. To start, the Libertarian Party has the position of completely open borders. Here is the official LP platform position: 3.4 Free Trade and Migration We support the removal of governmental impediments to free trade. Political freedom and escape from tyranny demand that individuals not be unreasonably constrained by government in the crossing of political boundaries. Economic freedom demands the unrestricted movement of human as well as financial capital across national borders. At a glance, this seems like a logical conclusion for libertarians who want maximum freedom all the time. However, there are some issues this position raises for me. The most glaring is that this is more of an anarchist position than a position that should be held by a political party that is operating under the U.S. Federal Government framework. I have no problem with anarchists. In fact, the past few years should be a great awakening for people to explore anarchism. However, I have a problem with the consistency.  If the Libertarian Party’s position is no government restrictions on the borders, why not in other areas? Here’s the LP position on National Defense: 3.1 National Defense We support the maintenance of a sufficient military to defend the United States against aggression. The United States should both avoid entangling alliances and abandon its attempts to act as policeman for the world. We oppose any form of compulsory national service. Where would the military start the defense against aggression? The border perhaps? The LP itself uses the government system as its guide here again on elections. 3.6 Representative Government We support election systems that are more representative of the electorate at the federal, state, and local levels. As private voluntary groups, political parties should be free to establish their own rules for nomination procedures, primaries and conventions. Why anarchism on the borders and not in national defense or elections? To better secure the borders from threats you first have to identify what those threats are. Do people want to come here for terrorism purposes? Of course. Is this the vast majority of the motivations to come to America? Of course not. Better opportunities, escaping tyranny, and wanting children to grow up in a free world are major motivations. Not everyone coming across the borders are threats. However, if migrants are benefiting from social programs and filling schools and hospitals while citizens are paying for their stay… that’s not benign. Also, drug and human trafficking are huge problems around the border. So how do we fix it? Dr. Ron Paul explained it many times on his campaign trails and Liberty Report. “I don’t like walls. I don’t want to wall people in and wall people out,” Paul said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “I don’t want free, open borders either,” he continued. “I think you have to remove the incentives for people to come.” ~Ron Paul Dave Smith, one of the most widely heard libertarian voices, holds a similar position. Smith said in a 2019 Tweet, “My preferred way of dealing with immigration: end the war on drugs, end the welfare state, privatize everything. But here in reality, let's not pretend there aren't problems with open borders.” The debate is not new and is far from over. In fact in 2024 it’s a bigger issue than ever with the current migration/invasion situation. There is no guarantee the LP will be making any changes to their platforms, but conversations are happening. What are your thoughts?

@olimercemarti Honestly idrc if she wants to kill her baby because she thinks its a parasite then let her, shes doing the world a favor. I think sterilization should be the price for abortion. Make it rare by making it permanent. If your womb isnt a safe space then make it infertile.

I've decided I'm going to begin compiling an ongoing 🧵of absolutely wild science takes, misunderstandings, and statements by pro-choicers as I come across them. As a biologist most of these make me want to scream, so join me on this journey into profound science ignorance ✨

@SillyDumbCat During war time anyone who has a good relationship with the enemy is a traitor. When you upend the social order and pit one gender against another gender while giving one side full legitimacy and labeling the other side as disposable and worthless, these are the consequences.

It's crazy how in just 5 generations we went from looking up to men that protected and provided for women, now we call them simps. Just as women looked up to other women who managed the household well, would now be considered betrayers of their sex for simping for a man.

@__0bserver @men_are_human I doubt you can watch them struggle, boys arent girls they dont post all their Ls online for everyone to enjoy. Boys struggle silently alone doing drugs and committing crimes hoping to die early. Not much to see unless you work in the morgue or as a first responder.

@JohnGamble1590 @men_are_human Its okay because when men drop out of school the women will follow. No point in getting a college degree if you cant find a guy to date with a college degree. Women want guys on their level so the more they rise above men the more disappointed in romantic relationships.

@Daniel95Freak @men_are_human Only works if everyone does it. There is no union of men so its not possible. The best we can do is kill ourselves and do drugs and waste our lives in such great numbers that they cant find anyone to work the really important jobs so everything becomes prohibitively expensive.

@iambugsnasty Take em out in Louisiana swamp land, tie em naked to a stump, spread honey all over their body possibly give em a few cuts just for the scent of blood and possible infection. Leave and maybe check up on em a week later if desired.

@HumansNoContext Wait for the snake to attack then grab it by the neck right under its head and pull it out of the tree and swing it and throw it at the lion, cats hate snakes and it will freak out, while the lion is busy with snake you climb the tree and escape.

@GarrettPetersen @ChivalryGuild I agree with the sentiment but its not the same premise. The good place is basically the inverse, rather than assume they are in heaven they are outright told, then instead of getting everything they could ever want, everything goes wrong and they accidently torture each other.

Long ago my father told me about an episode of The Twilight Zone. I never saw it, but the synopsis haunts me to this day. A man dies and wakes up in a casino. But not just any casino. Waitresses bring him endless drinks. The buffet table has the best food he's ever tasted. Every bet he puts down wins. A beautiful woman eyes him invitingly. And so on. Everything a man could ever want, right? He enjoys himself thoroughly. But after a little while the effect wears off. He can't describe it, but something doesn't seem quite right. He turns to the blackjack dealer at the card table and says, "I thought Heaven would be a little different, you know?" The dealer responds, "Who said you're in Heaven?" Then it hits the man.

@ChivalryGuild Yes, understanding that sentiment is the adult equivalent to a kid learning the hard way why they shouldn't eat ice cream for dinner every night. Be careful what you wish for, the things you expect to bring you joy rarely do.

@ReShinigami @Swapnil90163870 @missfacto @creepydotorg If your wife and child is missing do you; (A) look for your own family and try to did through the rubble hoping they might still be alive. (B) stand around helping carry buckets of water to be able to see the rubble this little girl is trapped under which may be impossible 2 move

@ReShinigami @Swapnil90163870 @missfacto @creepydotorg No im saying its difficult to find 200 people to stand around passing buckets in a town of a few hundred after a natural disaster kills a third of the population and leaves another third missing and injured.

@ReShinigami @Swapnil90163870 @missfacto @creepydotorg So how far away do you have to carry the water buckets to dump them where it wont immediately return to the girl? To move water efficiently with buckets you need a whole chain of people on that one task. After a natural disaster man power is likely limited and a lot needs doing.
