@yGabobe @LenkaBula @JamaMusse @Somaalilanders @VOCfm Thank You Yusuf for your generous notes! Your ongoing, principled efforts are inspiring! This is a collective effort, indeed! On this auspicious occasion, I recall our engagement with the late AU Deputy Chair, Patrick Mazimhaka & his path-breaking AU 2005 Fact-finding report.

Few people have promoted Somaliland the way Ambassador Iqbal did, including through his books. He coined the phrase “Africa’s best-kept secret” to describe Somaliland. A great brother and steadfast supporter of Somaliland, he is deeply missed as the nation marks the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence.

Few journals make you pause, rethink old assumptions, and continue reflecting long after you finish reading. This latest issue of @dhaxalreeb does exactly that.
A deeply thoughtful collection on African borders, sovereignty, identity, regionalism, and the unfinished political questions shaping the continent today. The discussions are sharp, timely, and intellectually honest, especially in a period where Africa is navigating major geopolitical and regional transformations.
One line stayed with me: “Colonial borders are a necessary curse that Africa has yet to fully transcend.”
Highly recommended reading for scholars, policymakers, students, and anyone trying to understand the deeper political and historical forces shaping the Horn of Africa and the continent more broadly.
Some journals are published. Others genuinely contribute to public thought. This one does the latter. Human civilization, meanwhile, continues to draw borders and then organize conferences to explain why everyone is unhappy about them. Thank you, Dr. @JamaMusse and your team, for making this contribution. scienceopen.com/hosted-documen…

@JamaMusse Doc; great to see this initiative as both Sheikh and Amuud are the pride of Somalis, it's primarily yours aka Somalilanders and secondarily ours. I feel a strong fundraising strategy can get the funds needed both in the Horn and diaspora.Make it life sciences and STEM university

My latest editorial, 'The African Border Paradox—A Necessary Curse or a Missed Benediction?' is now live in Dhaxalreeb 22.1. This entire open-access issue is dedicated to the politics of borders
