After so many years, I finally reached Divine 😭 Could I make it to Immortal?

A small retrospect: Now that some days have passed since our mint and the end of our New Frontiers Quest Phase 1, I'd like to share a few words. By most measures, the initiative was a great success, bringing in more than 300k new users on both, Twitter and Discord, and peaking at 212k DAU despite measures to mitigate botting and sybil. These are just metrics, however. The most beautiful part was seeing thousands of new players join, countless communities playing together from different regions all across the globe, a plethora of people posting threads about our game in different languages, and an impressive number of game nights run by communities worldwide. From people praising the game’s art to those deeply engaged in the fight against Grin, the NFQ was a spectacle to behold. Hundreds of thousands of fellow gamers enjoyed the product of our work and were united by it. Although this was a “P2A” campaign, it was interesting to see that rewards were perceived as an additional benefit to the overall game experience. The event was very demanding, with the whole team working 16-hour days, including weekends. We were in the trenches, so much so that some people even mistook me for a mod in Discord. As a team, we find unparalleled excitement and camaraderie under such pressure, however. We are a committed company, where most of us have known each other for decades. We are deeply aligned and would live in camping tents and sleep on the floor for months if that’s what it takes to ship the products we love. I usually abstain from commenting on other projects if I don’t know about them. I believe that evaluating something as complex as a web3 game should be done on an individual basis. Every project is unique. Using preconceptions, other projects as benchmarks, or broad statements about market sentiment results in a loss of information and can lead to wrong conclusions. Plenty of people believed our mint was “impossible,” yet from our perspective, things seemed very different—we saw the demand we had. Twice we’ve launched in “bad market conditions.” The first time was only two weeks after the FTX crash (the lowest sentiment I’ve ever seen), and the second time now, when “NFTs are at their worst market ever” and “web3 gaming is dead. As a reminder, CT is not a source of irrefutable truth, as it neglects entire regions that don't use it, yet are increasingly important. Humans are often biased and the people we listen to in this network are also subject to that principle. No matter who someone is in the space, that person and their networks are likely a small island in the vast archipelago that is web3 gaming. This industry is now numbering in millions. Personally, I’ve seen the difference between now and late 2022 in terms of users. The industry is much larger now, and it will only continue to grow, especially as regions like Asia and South America (that barely use Twitter) keep on expanding at such a tremendous pace. As builders we need to remember the love and effort we put into our work resonates with people on an unconscious level. Humans are quick to identify attention to detail, care, humor, love and effort and reciprocate with products that grant pleasant and memorable experiences. Web3 games should be games before anything else, and in the end, games are about giving valuable experiences to people, although these vary in form and shape. Players in this realm are no different. We tried to attain to this principle and at least attempted to create something proximal to a valuable experience with our NFQ, and that seemed to resonate with players worldwide. Web3 gaming is a really hard and complex industry, and we should support each other rather than the contrary. There are few of us building here, and we should take care of our own if we want to succeed as an industry. We should strive to grow together. Lastly, as a team, we believe in this industry and we’ll keep pushing forward to the best of our ability. We’ll gather feedback and learnings from this event to create a better experience for Phase 2 and onwards. We’ll keep building with our community at the center. We vow to make this industry better.
