Let’s just call it like it is: Appointing the justices who enabled the overturning of Roe does not confer permanent “pro-life hero” status on Trump. Nearly everything he’s done since Dobbs has squandered or undercut the win.

MLB needs: • salary floor • umpire accountability • increased MiLB salaries • less/no blackouts • better HoF selection system • better All-Star selection system • formalized 'unwritten rules' • lower prices, fuller stadiums MLB does not need: • in-season tournament

The problem with the transfer portal is it’s eroding the lifelong bonds that make college football special. Fans and alumni crave those forever connections: like knowing Tim Tebow belongs to Florida, Eric Crouch to Nebraska, or Julio Jones to Alabama. Those historic school-to-player connections define programs and create lifetime loyalty. Now, we’re cheering players for a season or two before they move on, diluting legacies and turning fandom into something transient instead of eternal.

A beautiful album, from 1979, by the great @EmmylouSongbird. The accapella version of "The First Noel" is especially lovely.

Prayer is not an escape from reality. It is the very place we meet Christ, who Himself was unjustly slain. We will continue to pray, not because we are passive, but because we know only God can bring true justice, healing, and peace. Evil wants us to stop praying and to despair. We will not. We cling to Christ, who has conquered death. “The prayer of a righteous person has great power in its effects.” -James 5:16
Jen Psaki@jrpsaki

Prayer is not freaking enough. Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school. Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.

I don’t expect everyone to be a genius, much less be incredibly book smart, but the number of adults who cannot seem to grasp third grade science is appalling. Heatwaves and flooding during summer are nothing new. In fact, they happen multiple times every year across the U.S. It has always been this way and it always will, regardless of whether we are here on this blue and green marble or not. Blaming weather phenomena that have occurred for millennia on “cloud seeding” or climate change is intellectually lazy, and it just goes to show that you need to (a) get a clue about weather history and (b) literally go touch grass and observe the natural world. Not everything is mankind’s fault, and not everything is a secret conspiracy by the federal government. Since the dawn of human civilization, people cling to this superstition that if bad weather occurs somewhere, it must be “us” that caused it and therefore we must change something “we” did so it doesn’t happen again. Rather than just accepting the fact we aren’t in control of everything, it’s easier for people to put blame on politicians they don’t like or the federal government. It’s an odd way to cope if you ask me.
