@BapuBommaSpeaks Lot of women don't behave like your friend. She respectfully accepted her mother in law's words when she said don't repeat again. Lot of them will say who is she to say that to me. Both women behaved maturely. It's always a two way street.

When I read this, I remembered an incident that happened few days ago. I went to a friend’s place in the morning before office. I was having tea, my friend getting ready, when suddenly she and her husband got into an argument, and it escalated very quickly. I was sitting there, quietly minding my own business, almost pretending I didn’t exist. Then her mothe in law came, She didn’t ask what happened, nor analyze the situation. She simply looked at her son and said, “Will you stop? If you want to argue with your wife, not in this house. Leave and do it elsewhere, but not in front of me.” He tried to explain, saying she didn’t know what his wife had done. But she calmly reiterated , “I don’t care what she did. This is not how you speak to your wife here. If you want to argue, leave the house, live somewhere else.” And just like that, he stopped and walked away. Only after he left, she turned to my friend, and asked what happened, listened fully, and said “Be careful next time. Don’t repeat this.” No drama. No bias. Just clarity. Later, my friend told me this is how her mother-in-law always is. She never allows her son to raise his voice at her. She always says, “I didn’t raise you like this. If there’s a problem, sit and talk. If you can’t, I’ll help, but don’t disrespect.” Seven years into their marriage, and she says her mother-in-law has taught her so much, like a real mother. And honestly… I felt so happy for my friend. My friend and her husband both are Chartered Accountants and her mother in law tenth passed and a home maker.

For the record, I have heard multiple stories of uneducated MILs siding with their DILs after their sons misbehave. Those women are far more feminist, even if they don't identify as such

@Romazehari No one is stopping women from working in restaurants. They don't because of the workload!! This also tells, if need be men will cook for all. Stop this whining and learn some skills!!

Unpopular opinion: funny how professional kitchens are full of men, but at home cooking is women’s duty. Unpaid labor is for women only.

@oyehimanshu0 There are no laws in India where woman can be perpetrators of sexual crimes. Even if you have proof, police or courts can't register a case as there is no provision in law!

@RijhwaniSheetal Just one correction, not for a lot of men... But for all men!! AI boom is going to create ruckus in many such families. Younger GenX and millennials are in that high salary range which are prime targets for layoffs. They have highest household financial responsibilities also

Carrying the financial responsibility of a family is not a joke. A lot of men have been carrying it alone for years. A guy I know moved abroad for a better job. He did well, earned good money, bought a house for his parents, got married.. everything looked sorted. Then a few months back, he lost his job in one of these layoffs. At first he stayed positive. He had savings, backup plans. But after 1-2 months of applying and getting rejected everywhere, it started affecting him. He asked his father to handle the house EMIs from his pension for a couple of months and asked his wife if they could cut down expenses for some time. They managed for a while but slowly arguments started. He started feeling pressure, guilt, lost confidence… questioning himself every day. Eventually he took a lower paying job he didn’t even want. He used to be such a chill guy. Now he just seems unhappy. All this made me wonder…for a lot of men, self worth quietly gets attached to being able to earn and provide. Even if nobody says it out loud, they feel successful only when they can give their family the best life. Society can be unfair to both men and women in different ways, but we hardly talk about this side of men.

A lot of women get mad whenever someone says they want a virgin girl without past relationships, whether physical or emotional. But look at this beta-cuck dad, who himself is preaching that if his daughter had sex, it shouldn’t be an issue. The only issue, according to him, should be whether she used protection or not. But the moment a rishta guy comes to their home, they would hide her past and lie about it. Because 99% of men would just walk away if they found out that the girl had been in a physical intimate relationship before marriage. It’s just that we men remain ignorant about it until we eventually find out. And on this very basis, the whole institution of marriage has been sustained, but now men are rejecting women with a past, and the institution of marriage is heading toward collapse.

Mahatma Gandhi is the most respected Indian figure in the world, but the tragedy is that much of the disrespect toward him often comes from his own country.

@worlds_affairs They want publicity... They don't care about justice. Biggest shock for me was realising one doesn't get justice on courts. It's a win or loss and not justice.

@JDantifragile In India they get alimony arranged by the court, as per which law you asked? None, just the whims of judges!! As per law women should have been jailed, but judges punish men for making them look at one more case.

REMINDER: SINGLE MOTHER DOESN'T MEAN FATHER IS A MONSTER Couples can separate if they don't get along, but that doesn't mean non-custodial parent cannot have a say in child's welfare & upbringing ENOUGH OF ONE-SIDED VICTIMHOOD BY SINGLE MOMS
Meghna Pant@MeghnaPant

Four hours at the Passport Office Mumbai @rpomumbai with my minor daughter for her passport renewal because the father’s signature isn’t there. FOUR HOURS of zero clarity, zero empathy, zero system. My child is hungry, exhausted, sitting on a plastic chair in a sea of chaos while officials keep sending us from one counter to another with no answers. Why is a single mother still treated like a suspicious exception instead of a parent? Why is a child being punished because the system cannot handle families that don’t fit a perfect template? Absolute humiliation, overcrowding, indifference, and no accountability. Passport Office Mumbai seriously needs to do better for single parents and children. This is really not a country for single mothers.

Being a protector and provider isn’t just about making money and protecting from physical threats. Women today think they don’t “need” men because they are financially independent, but marriage has never been about just financial gain. Protection can be emotional stability - a husband who stays calm during chaos. Provision can be relieving burden and providing a solution. A woman largely benefits from marriage regardless of money, because a good masculine man builds something meaningful with her, creates a long term plan, provides emotional stability, and leads her spiritually.
