Update: The TD Five Boro Bike Tour has been postponed by the Mayor's Office due to impending Tropical Storm Henri. Working with city officials, we have secured a new date of August 29. We will be informing riders of next steps via email and on our website.

@kennylinafp @marshall_allen Marshall is adding to the misinformation about mammograms. In my radiology practice I see cancers detected by mammograms that are invisible on ultrasound everyday. Sometimes there is a breast cancer AND a benign cyst too. We are doctors, not car mechanics running up the bill.

@ProPublica A mammogram in a 34 year old woman and a lump is standard procedure in my radiology practice. Ultrasounds cannot detect some types of cancers, and a mammogram is needed for microcalcificaions. One does not know a lump is a benign cyst a priori

@ProPublica Any discussion of unnecessary medical procedures is incomplete without examining the influence of defensive medicine. That is, fear of malpractice that drives what some (many) doctors do and prescribe.
