President H.E. @KagutaMuseveni has given his assent to the Protection of Sovereignty Act, 2026, after it was passed by Parliament. The law aims to defend Uganda’s sovereignty by controlling unlawful foreign interference in the country’s political, security, and economic affairs while safeguarding legitimate investment, trade, humanitarian efforts, and academic collaborations.

This afternoon at State House Entebbe, I received Mr. Atul Khare, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, and his delegation, who paid a courtesy call on me. We discussed matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed Uganda’s continued cooperation with the United Nations in promoting peace, stability and development.

This evening , I met Gen. Dr. HC Archon Bartolomeu Savoiu and a delegation from Romania at State House, Entebbe. We exchanged views on leadership, faith and national values. I noted that in our approach, we emphasize unity in Christ and the central teaching of Jesus in the New Testament, which is love for one’s neighbour. We do not encourage sectarianism based on denomination or religion. Whether Orthodox, Anglican, Pentecostal or Muslim, all Ugandans are part of one society. Historically, colonial influences introduced divisions between Catholics and Protestants, but we worked to overcome these differences. Even our Muslim brothers and sisters, who are about 14% of the population, live peacefully with others. We continue to uphold unity, tolerance, and the principles of God in building our nation.

This evening, I met the task force on epidemics in Nakasero. We discussed the Ebola situation in the region, and we will communicate the way forward. There is no cause for alarm.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has said Uganda is seeking to benefit from Turkmenistan’s vast experience in natural gas production following talks between the party leadership and a delegation from the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan. Speaking after a meeting between NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong and Ata Serdarov, the leader of the visiting delegation, NRM Director for External Relations Pollar Awich said the discussions focused on strengthening political and economic cooperation between the two parties.
