The Curious Case of the Missing Chocolate I rarely have chocolate. We’re talking once in several months. So when my husband got me my favourite Lindt dark chocolate orange a couple of days ago, I kept it to have a piece over the weekend. Today went to the fridge and almost the entire thing was gone. Asked my husband. He said he hasn’t even tasted it. Now there are two other people at home. The granddaughter, who is recovering from a viral, is on medication, has her exams going on and has the most innocent face. And the grandmother, who is the most adorable person but is diabetic and also has Alzheimer’s. So even if it was her, she has genuinely, conveniently forgotten. Now both are capable suspects but neither of them is supposed to be having chocolate. And yet, my entire bar of chocolate is almost gone 😄 Nobody is confessing. Nobody saw anything. The culprit is out there. Living their best life. Probably not even thinking about it or has forgotten. We will never know.

There are some moments in public life which touch you very deeply. Today is one such moment for me. Assam’s Maternal Mortality Rate has come down to 84. For the first time in our history, Assam is now below the national average of 88. When I took over the Health Department in 2006, our MMR was 480. At that time, this journey looked almost impossible. But thousands of doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, health officials and frontline workers across Assam kept working silently, tirelessly and with compassion year after year. This achievement belongs to them. Behind this number are countless mothers who returned safely home to their families. Behind this success are years of sacrifice, sleepless nights and an unwavering commitment to save lives. Assam has achieved something truly historic today. What once seemed impossible has become reality through collective effort and the blessings of the people of Assam. #CBSE You have made a complete mockery of the education system and of the lives of lakhs of students and parents across the country. First, you introduced a new paper-checking and evaluation system without properly informing students, schools, or parents about how it would work, what the marking pattern would be, or how moderation would happen. You treated students like experimental subjects instead of young individuals whose futures depend on these exams. Then came the results — rushed, inconsistent, and shockingly disappointing for countless deserving students. Years of hard work were reduced to questionable evaluation standards and careless execution. Students who consistently performed well suddenly found themselves battling inexplicable marks, shattered confidence, and uncertainty about their future. And when students and parents naturally wanted transparency through rechecking and verification, your website collapsed for days. “Under maintenance” became the standard response while students sat in panic, anxiety, and helplessness. Even after the portal reopened, people still couldn’t log in. Is this what India’s premier education board has come to? Do you have any idea what these children are going through? The mental trauma, sleepless nights, panic attacks, fear of losing college admissions, and emotional breakdowns inside homes across the country? Parents are watching their children suffer while institutions responsible for protecting their future continue to hide behind technical glitches and poor planning. This is not incompetence anymore ….this is negligence. The Ministry of Education and CBSE must understand that they are dealing with human lives, careers and mental health not just data sheets and servers. If any unfortunate consequences arise out of this stress, anxiety, and institutional failure the responsibility will lie squarely on those who created this chaos. Students deserved clarity. Different experience on this front. My mother expired in Feb month,submitted application on the MCD portal on behalf of my father. Just uploaded father's Adhar card and slip from Cremation ground. Received email after 20 days,that you can download the death certificate .
