@1970sfootball @stusfootyflash I'm forever torn between Moore, Davies and Motty to be honest. Each one brought something truly unique to the matches they commentated on. Moore always seems to shade it for me though.

@stusfootyflash I thought that he was average, like Motson. And Coleman just barked out surnames. Barry Davies leagues above for me.

Brian Moore was rightly known as the daddy of all football commentators. If something big happened during a match, his go-to phrase was always “My goodness!” Here’s a selection of clips from the 90s where Moore used those two words to great effect. 🎙️

@Albumism Bought it on cassette the morning it was released in Virgin Megastore, Dublin. I was mesmerised from the second I hit 'play'. The first 50 people to buy the album received a huge wall poster with the Violator artwork, which stayed on my bedroom wall for about 5 years.

@plc69 That's an interesting take. I guess you could say there's a lot more 'warmth' and a softer sound to the likes of 'The Unforgettable Fire' than this album has. Perhaps certain influences and the music of the day would have contributed to the slightly more industrial feel.

@kencoog I'd love to hear what others hear, like yourself. I hear a cold, clinical production. It's not the songs per sé, it's the way they sound. I think that's where I've landed.

#NowPlaying #Ireland U2 This album has long driven me crazy. It just leaves me cold. But I'm going in once again... to reassess. I'm starting off with 'The Fly' CD Single - and the brilliantly-titled 'Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk/Korova 1'.

@Albumism @U2 But to answer the question.....I sure do remember hearing it for the first time. Dave Fanning (Irish radio dj) played it on his show the day before it was released I think.

@Albumism @U2 I can't think of any other way of describing Zooropa as a poor relation of its predecessor. Still has some great moments though (title track/The First Time/The Wanderer). Definitely a 3/5

It’s 27 years to the day since Emile Heskey and Steve Claridge turned into Di Stefano and Puskas at Filbert Street. A lovely bit of Coca-Cola Cup magic…

@TealCartoons They're fantastic. Would you have watched the original series back in the 80's? I was always amazed at how much the features were exaggerated but how the likeness was still spot on.
