AI is so popular because it gives uncreative people the illusion that they are creative. It lets them skip right to the part where they get validation. It’s not only parasitic, but extremely narcissistic.

26 is the ultimate coming-of-age age. the age of breakups (or engagements). the reality of your late 20s hits you like a bus. you try a new routine. new hobby. new city even. chasing the missed early 20s. at 26, you reinvent your life. my favorite thing to watch.

After transferring from Douglas College to UBC, I allowed myself to be convinced that an arts degree was worthless. I took a few computer science courses, failed them all, and ended up on academic probation. Disillusioned, I took a semester off in Toronto to “find myself” while my wife did a co-op. I spent countless hours in the CBC building, reading and writing in the public atrium as writers, producers, and on-air talent came and went. That inspired me to forget what other people had told me and focus on what I knew I wanted to do — and what I knew I was good at. Journalism. So, when we returned to Vancouver, I enrolled in courses on podcasting, social media, and memes (yes, really) I aced them all, and had a blast. I finally felt like I was in my element. I leaned into it, and when Covid hit, published a few pieces on Medium. They ended up being noticed by someone in the industry, who helped get me my first job as a journalist. Six years later, here I am. Funny, the things that lead us to our destiny…

for some people, life doesn't truly begin until they're 26-30. The way we romanticize and obsess over youth is super harmful. Your life is not over at 21, i promise you. it's just beginning.
