🚨One major constraint in yesterday’s match was Cristhian Mosquera’s struggles when pushing forward from right-back to support the wingers. 🔸The ex-Valencia player lost possession seven times more often than the entire rest of the starting lineup combined. In contrast, the Saliba-Gabriel-Calafiori defensive trio did not lose the ball a single time. 🔸It’s worth noting this came against Burnley, who sit at the bottom of the table for high-pressing intensity. 🔸These issues forced Bukayo Saka to drop deeper and provide extra defensive cover, contributing 5 blocks, 1 interception, 1 clearance, and 6 recoveries. Despite that extra workload, Saka still led the team with 9 key passes and 3 big chances created, earning the highest match ratings from both FotMob and WhoScored. 🔸Mosquera looked uncertain when trying to progress the ball through passes and often had to wait for support from Rice or Ødegaard to move into the second and third phases of play. 🔸That said, it’s possible Mosquera’s best long-term position at Arsenal is actually centre-back, where William Saliba currently excels. Any shortcomings at right-back could therefore be viewed as temporarily acceptable. 🔸If Arsenal retain Ben White for next season, there may be no urgent need to sign a new right-back. A rotation between Timber and White could comfortably cover around 80% of the 60-game workload (roughly 25 appearances each), leaving the remaining 10 games to be shared between an academy graduate and Mosquera.
