I was watching the latest @tferriss podcast with @noahkagan (he has a new book). Around 1:09, Tim gave a detailed explanation of how he launched The 4-Hour Workweek in 2007. (Worth listening to in full.) A big factor initially was that he met @Scobleizer and shared a few of the most interesting pages from the book with him. Robert liked them, wrote about the book in a blog post that “went nuts.” I had a similar experience. Robert started following me a year ago. (Because he follows everyone in AI. :) He saw and quote-tweeted one of my posts. This helped the post to “go nuts” with more than 300K views. And I went from 1K to 2K followers in a day. I’d guess this has happened to many others over the years. So, here is a very simplified, evergreen, 3-step way to move faster than most: 1. Create/write something very interesting/intriguing. (Preferably more than one thing.) 2. Get on the radar of people with bigger audiences. 3. With a bit of luck (but not by directly asking), they might amplify your content and help you get to the next level.
