@TimSheehyMT He did a great service for our country? Maybe you can break his arm, too?

Senator Daines is a giant in Montana politics and a master political strategist. Starting in 2012, Steve led a conservative revolution in our state that resulted in flipping every single statewide office to Republican control. In 2024, Steve did our country a great service leading the charge to win back Republican control of the U.S. Senate. Steve is doing something we don’t often see in modern politics: stepping down at the height of his power to clear the way for a new generation of leaders. I’m honored to call Steve a friend and am grateful for his years of service to our state.

@BretWeinstein Maybe I missed it, but what is the « optimizer » for these hypothesized variables embedded in the genome? Is it still primarily natural selection acting on random mutations, but just random mutations of a variable, like bits flipping?

If you have doubts about the version of Darwinism we teach in school, so do I. I do my best to upgrade it in this episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. Lots of other good stuff in here as well, including a ‘How it’s going’ update on Sam Harris. Check it out!

@DavidDeutschOxf Just read “the Afghan Papers”. Predictably, we were misled, as seems to be the case every time.

I never heard of this. Is it true? Disturbing. The consequences of isolationism, the actual original sin of the US. Usually it's appeasement that means betraying one's friends to one's enemies. But here it was isolationism.

@ylecun @sporadica This is why policy should be based on principles and not the judgement of bureaucratics. Preserve individual rights. Then Fauci and Collin’s ham-fisted response to the pandemic are irrelevant, whether they were well-intentioned or not is a moot point.

He didn't "make half the crap up." He advised the government to take measures that were the best things to do given the information available at the time. Some decisions turned out to be the right thing to do. A few were suboptimal because the information simply was not available. But he didn't make things up.

The kind of attacks that Dr Anthony Fauci is being subjected to by Republicans is disgraceful and dangerous. This man is a hero. He helped save *millions* of lives. Yet, he is vilified by Republican members of congress who are more interested in political expediency and posturing than in the safety of the public, Some even attack the very concept of science, the scientific method. This is insanely dangerous. The undermining of the public's trust in the public health system actually killed people during the pandemic. I've complained about how some captains of industry treating their scientists, but the mistreatment of Dr Fauci by congressional Republicans tops everything.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar

Fox News, Newsmax, and House Republicans are desperately trying to revive covid conspiracy theories this morning by somehow pinning the pandemic on Fauci -- the one guy in Trump's orbit who was sane and rational throughout the ordeal. They don't want to have a reality-based conversation about who really botched things and who guided us out of the worst of it.

@ComicDaveSmith I believe the comedian Dan Soder proved that the name « Caleb » is a punchline.

@lexfridman @RobertKennedyJr Trust in science isn’t low. Trust in bureaucrats who wear a bow tie and a lab coat to make appeals to authority is low. If science is what David Deutsch describes in « The Beginning of Infinity » we are all on board.

I'm interviewing @RobertKennedyJr soon. Let me know questions. I would also like to interview virus/vaccine scholars. Please give suggestions. It sucks that trust in science is so low. I ❤ science. I'm hoping to celebrate it through many challenging, good-faith conversations.

Help support Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in his fight to restore our country as an exemplary nation, and to end the toxic polarization that divides us. Together we can reunite America! kennedy24.com/donate?recruit…
