WATCH | The NPA says it is instituting disciplinary action against the prosecutor convicted of contempt of court in the Kwaggafontein Magistrate’s Court. This follows the Joe Sibanyoni and Others matter being struck off the roll today. Special Director of Public Prosecutions Adv Mthunzi Mhaga says the developments are unprecedented.

Distasteful. I have many prosecutor friends and they always complain about lack of support. I’m seeing it now. Your letter is premature. You are not even informing us if the prosecutors indeed had another matter or not, I don’t think you even bothered to investigate this. Your staff was unfairly treated by a magistrate and instead of supporting your employee and investigating matter properly, you rush to release such harsh statements? @NPA_Prosecutes

The Magistrate ordered a postponement that clashed with the prosecutor’s diary commitment. Basically threatening the prosecutor “shove it down their throat?” The NPA was silent.
