CosmosDB is finally deploying! I feel like I've hacked my way into some mysterious mainframe based on how long this took. It's just a guessing game each time, some random combination of refresh, new name, new resource group, etc.

@markjbrown I'm just using a standard pay-as-you-go at this point. "Validation" is just the term they use at each final step of the creation for any resource. There's often a failure here

@lightcutscode Not sure what you mean by validated. WRT to regions/locations, this may have something to do with the Azure subscription you are using. Benefit subscriptions like MSDN, etc. are sometimes gated on which regions they can be used in.

Why is it so hard to get resources validated on #Azure? I imagine this really holds up productivity; it feels like a real deficit and issue with their service. I just tried to provision a basic CosmosDB and it only allows two locations for it and neither one validates. Seriously?

Azure's speed is so incredibly slow, I haven't been so frustrated with any learning experience like this one. I am still waiting for a resource group to be deleted from last night. It won't delete some vault that was automatically created. I didn't create it.

I don't understand editors who act like jerks to writers who are new to their publication. Assuming someone has disrespected you personally just because of some honest oversight is really low-dimensional behavior. Especially if your guidelines are located in 4 different places.

I'm still very surprised about how slow it is to do things in Azure. Sure, it's faster than hiring extra people or buying servers yourself, etc., but compared with all the other software we use on a screen, SaaS, etc., it's soooo slow.

kind of like the really basic and tactile functionality Azure has for database development. Super simple lego blocks, monotonous maybe, but very clear and literal.

@SebastjanVoros thank you for this - always looking to cut to the quick in the world of new non-fiction. I want to read this now just based on your description

OK, weird - it logged me into a different directory. I don't know how it decides to do that. My subscription sits in a different directory. I need to figure out how to delete these other ones, there was never a point where I "created a directory." #Azure

Did #Azure recently do some type of reset or reboot? I just logged in and it's treating me as if I don't have a subscription.

be prepared for continued meditation to bring up latent trauma for you. It's no joke. But anticipate that this may happen so you're not scared or surprised by it. Another good reason to start with some simply ambient music and journaling first instead. Develop safety.

you need to be able to have a routine of sitting like this for at least 20 minutes (daily if possible) before you should bother trying something more serious. And sidenote: serious mindfulness mediation can exacerbate some issues with anxiety and depression, fair warning.

ditch the apps. It's overcomplicating so much and feeds into the general atrophy of self-regulation. Find a long YouTube track that works for you (calming, lets you slip into an alert but nonfocused state) and sit with pen/paper (to direct any fidgeting energies).

what's the best way to start meditating? I don't want headspace/calm and apps that have 183941 paths and choices. I want a very simple app that has a single path that I can easily follow.

when I host a zoom I make sure I have ways of rewarding those who attend, sure, but also giving something to those who really wanted to and legit could not make it. Honor the fact that people have a real interest in what you're doing and never take that for granted.

if you're hosting a zoom that's going to reach its capacity limit, it would be a good idea to let people know this in advance, and a better idea to provide *something* for everyone who couldn't fit into the zoom. No more artificial scarcity tactics, thanks
