The Grand County Sheriff’s Office has worked with HSI for the past four years and used biometric identity confirmation to track Arikan. The sheriff's office assisted DHS to "ensure the safety of our community," but Arikan has no criminal record.

There’s a huge misconception that Teen Vogue didn’t have rigorous writing & editing processes because its news catered to young people. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. It was one of the few places I freelanced for that had in-house fact checkers and robust systems.
