@mountainwesttax The best mountain dining is the one you eat off slope, tucked between the trees with a killer view and no one around. Usually a packed cold one and sandwich (or heated Campbels in a thermos if you fancy)

all this criticism of Vail Resorts and we haven’t even discussed how the first thing they do when they buy a mountain is get rid of any base lodge where you can eat a packed lunch

This is wild. Trying to buy a plane ticket from the West Coast to Saint Louis, Missouri. All direct flights start at $564. But if I book a flight to Atlanta with a layover in STL the flight is $198. Why would you not just do a carry-on and get off the plane in STL? I am!

Haha, I actually think Project Managers are safer than developers. A PM’s role goes far beyond just managing developers, especially in a consultancy setting where external parties are involved. They have to interface with both internal and external stakeholders, align expectations, and step in assertively when needed. A good modern PM (and yes, I know there are plenty of “box checkers” out there, especially in the corporate world) is much more than just a JIRA jockey. The combination of strategic thinking, people management, and adaptability they bring to the table is something AI is still far from replicating at a truly effective level. It’ll be quite a while before any AI can take over that kind of role.

Do you really think “Project Managers” will survive AI? Really? So many people in my replies seem to think Projeft Managers will be immune to AI. They are even recommending engineers to pivot.
