Model S was special I remember redesigning the entire battery pack architecture after a test failure and thinking what a long shot it was Later, seeing my first customer car in the wild I was filled with pride pointing it out to my wife. We made it into a game where we would spot Model S on road trips and the first to call it out would win. Later turned into a game to see who spotted the most. At one point we started getting to double digits, we happily retired the game. Now we've retired production But I'll keep looking out for Model S

On this day 17 years ago, 4chan’s “Operation Porn Day” flooded YouTube with explicit videos disguised as children’s content. When the BBC reported on it, a reporter unwittingly read “I'm twelve years old and what is this?” on air, birthing an internet legend.

Has anyone yet invented an internet connected washing machine? It would be handy to see if I remembered to turn mine on from my phone while I'm out - to operate it remotely, and see how long is left on any given wash cycle.

Poor little Wes. The bloke who organised the orgy - and now he's left with the job of picking up the used nodders.

If Steve Jobs were still alive, he would have the moral authority to face and maybe even to solve this problem. But I doubt anyone in the phone business now does.

The increasing number of typos and spelling mistakes within articles in the BBC News app are a far more concerning sign of the collapse of civilisation than all the other madness going on.

It would be kinda cool if we had invented LLMs before the internet and not the other way around.

@BarneyFlames There’s a video from the early days of NeXT where Steve says the goal is to create a platform that somebody can use to create a new platform. I was like hoo boy, if only you knew

Cool thing about NeXT is that it was like the velvet underground of computers, it only sold like 50,000 units, but the people who bought those included the machine on which Tim Berners-Lee created the web.
Geoffrey Cain@geoffrey_cain

There is no gap. Apple pushed out Jobs in 1985. He spent twelve years at NeXT building an operating system so advanced that when Apple bought the company in 1997, NeXT's software and NeXT's people took over. Every Mac and iPhone today runs on this foundation that Steve built in exile.
