'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' Series Finale Was a Letdown: TV Review variety.com/2026/tv/news/l…

@PaigeSpiranac The best days are when we get a picture of those great cans. Today is spectacular.
English

@RodPedersenShow @silverstsports @GamePlusNetwork 🙄
How can you say this without bursting out laughing.
So much for self respect or that of your peers.
Brutal take.
Good thing for VGK the Flyers had ethics when the Knights came crawling for Torts

This is the deal on the VGK telling the Oilers to *wait* to interview Bruce Cassidy ⬇️ #ForgedInGold

@PaigeSpiranac Nice video. I think I enjoyed your great cans most.

#Forgedingold is essentially saying they didn’t want to fire Cassidy but don’t believe in their players and needed to shock them.
So the players are on a team that will screw them first chance, and the GM doesn’t think they’re good enough to beat their old coach

@NHLJackManning How is this blocked if CBJ made an offer and might possibly make another? Clearly they talked 🙄
English

@TageForHart @BradJamieson He doesn’t. That’s your made up narrative.
If he did, it would be a team that always makes the playoffs. That’s not Buffalo. For all we known, the Sabres past year could be a massive overachievement.
Your trade proves you aren’t confident in them either.
English

@mc_lovin71 @BradJamieson If Edmonton is so much better why does he want to get the fuck out?
English

To Edmonton:
Tage Thompson
Ukko Pekka Luukkonen
Bowen Byram
2026 1st Round Pick
2027 1st Round Pick
To Buffalo:
Connor McDavid

@FNBarnBurner Feel sorry for these guys but understand their Oilers obsession.
The Flames are the definition of “meh”.
The Columbus of Canada.
No one outside of Calgary cares about the Flames.

@JessfromTO Just a reminder the Leafs suck regardless of where they play
English

@mcclusk Yours is in the clouds like all other Leafs fans. He’s never going to Toronto. He wants to win now and Toronto is the least likely place. Current team is falling apart and franchise not close to winning since 6 teams.
No one wants to go to Toronto unless its to get overpaid
English

I'm not saying it's going to happen.
But this is the only chance Edmonton's ever going to have to get a first overall pick for Connor McDavid.
And it's McDavid's only chance to be traded to a team with a 1st overall pick in-hand, lessening what he'd pull from the roster.
You know McDavid's always had Toronto in the back of his mind... and if he's gonna do it, he'd probably prefer to attempt it while Matthews is under contract.
There's no way this idea only exists online. It's occurred to everyone involved.
Question is... where's everyone's head at?

@StanFischler @Oilers Shut up Stan. The NY Islanders dynasty was a fraud.
English

You tell me; did the Magnificent @Oilers #ConnorMcDavid help or harm his coach who just got fired because the g.m. gave him a flawed lineup? Even with a half-decent goalie, this Edmonton team is going nowhere, fast.

My thoughts on the Oilers coaching situation:
This isn’t about whether the Oilers should or shouldn’t make a coaching change. This is about the ugly, trashy side of sports reporting.
If the report is accurate that the Oilers asked permission to speak with Butch Cassidy, I think it’s embarrassing that this became public the way it did. The race to be first has completely overtaken basic decency.
Somewhere along the way, too many sports insiders started treating people’s jobs, families, and reputations like content. Leak it first. Post it fast. Rack up the clicks. Deal with the fallout later.
I feel terrible for Kris Knoblauch and his family. Whatever anyone thinks of him as a coach, he does not deserve to have his job status dragged through public speculation because someone wanted engagement.
Are Oilers management partly responsible? Yes. If they are moving in another direction, they owe Knoblauch clarity and respect. Maybe that conversation has already happened. Maybe it hasn’t. We don’t know.
But this leak-first, ask-questions-later style of sports reporting is gross. It turns a real person’s livelihood into a scoop, and I think that’s garbage.
Wishing Kris Knoblauch and his family all the best, and thanking him for his service and dedication to the Oilers.
To the person responsible for leaking this story: I have zero respect for this kind of reporting. The constant engagement farming, the need to be first, and the willingness to treat someone’s career like disposable content is exactly what makes modern sports media so frustrating.

@MorganLaidler Other teams have just as many. Many fans were very vocal they wanted them gone, including Knobs the past 2 months.
What’s your point, unless it’s the Oilers core has a rep for being coach killers? Like goaltending, maybe the coach isn’t the sole reason for the lack of a cup
English

@theblockspot Moan louder. Don’t deserve the cup if you can’t beat whatever team is in front of you.
What difference is it losing in round 3 than round 2? Still lost.
