@katynotie You’re fighting for your son’s future. As a parent, there is nothing more important, and it will make all the difference.

@ArielTroster Any hope that the appearance of the sunken stadium will improve? I’m not sure why anyone thinks this is a good idea.
English

@mdwturner Yes, that is part of the project for a renewal of Bank street from this location to Walkley, in addition to a protected intersection at Riverdale.

Yesterday I showed the Mayor the dangerous intersection of Bank and Riverside and the need for more safety and bike lanes on the Billing’s Bridge (over the Rideau). The report to add lanes goes to Transportation Committee this Thursday. #Ottawa #Ottnews pub-ottawa.escribemeetings.com/Meeting.aspx?I…

For those who have inquired, here are a few data points from the new City of Ottawa study along with previously published information that I shared in my video yesterday. It shows that the existing pathways along the Rideau Canal could accommodate the relatively small number of pedestrians and cyclists who are using the Queen Elizabeth Driveway, allowing us to keep the roadway open and ease congestion on neighbourhood roads.

@bruceanderson I think he has a good point on the QED (I’ve noticed the same thing) and he’s focusing on addressing LRT root causes, not quick fixes … which is an unusual and refreshing approach for a politician.
English

@JCHIANELLO Yes, possibly you missed that he mentions it in the video, and provides a comparison to Laurier Avenue.

Is there other data other than these two minutes?

New data shows that very few cyclists and pedestrians are using Queen Elizabeth Driveway when it's closed to cars. Watch this video as a great example. When I recorded it yesterday afternoon, not a single pedestrian or cyclist passed me for the entire two and a half minutes. Lorsque je l'ai enregistrée hier après-midi, pas un seul piéton ou cycliste ne m'a dépassé pendant les deux minutes et demie.

@_MarkSutcliffe Absolutely! I live next to QED and it’s hardly used when closed to traffic. Maybe it’s time to resurrect Sunday bike days which were well attended. Thank you for your common sense.

@CarCulture4 @Alex_S_Cullen @MICHAELCTV @StuntmanStu @mikewoodottawa I’m not sure how the NCC data translates to people per day. You just have to take a look most days to see that’s it’s not particularly popular, for whatever reason. The bike paths however are very well used.
English

@mdwturner @Alex_S_Cullen @MICHAELCTV @StuntmanStu @mikewoodottawa The NCC data doesn't support that. But okay.
English

@Alex_S_Cullen @MICHAELCTV @StuntmanStu @mikewoodottawa I live beside the QED and very few people use it for active transportation when it’s closed to cars … the few that do would easily fit on the existing bike paths. In comparison, the bike days on Colonel By on Sundays were generally well attended. Just my observation.
English

@MICHAELCTV @StuntmanStu @mikewoodottawa 100,000 people have walked or biked this, according to the NCC. Have you read the City's Transportation Master Plan lately? Promotes active transportation (walking, cycling) and public transit to mitigate car usage. #ottcity #ottbike

@Ottawa_Cameron She’s on fire. Very articulate, knowledgeable and passionate.
English

@yeky83 @34MatthewsMVP @DFisman @AChandra_TO I understand your point but think time will tell. Of course I hope you are right.
English

@mdwturner @34MatthewsMVP @DFisman @AChandra_TO You as an individual and a father can act based on your feelings, but public policy shouldn’t be made on one’s feelings but rather the actual risk itself… I hope you can agree.
