@Weird_Friction I'm so sorry for your loss, and in particular, the difficult circumstances. Sending you peace.

It's long past time to pay teachers more.
When districts gain flexibility to raise teacher salaries, students improve in math & reading. Schools attract better teachers—and they put in more effort.
The quality of our children's education depends on how much we value teachers.

Judging a student by standardized test scores is harmful to the student & our society. “The tests are not measuring how much students learned or can learn. They are predominately measuring the family and community capital of the student.” forbes.com/sites/petergre… #ksleg #ksed

Unbelievable.
I have a student who asks each morning for a @PopTartsUS. Now it is also before he goes home/over a weekend.
Communities are better when legislators, business leaders & educators work together. Kids are hungry.
I will always choose to feed kids. #ksed #ksleg

"If passed into law, House Bill 2674 would deny access to the program to up to 266,000 Kansas children, all of whom qualify for free or reduced-price meals in their school districts. That would mean keeping $31 million out of our state's economy." cjonline.com/story/opinion/…

@johncrist84 @CFBPlayoff @joelklatt @KirkHerbstreit Exactly. The best team not being able to fight for a championship is infuriating and… vaguely familiar.

College football is broken. Give me NFL over college any day. No politics, no guessing. Teams get into playoffs based on wins and losses. Feel horrible for Florida St. they deserve to be in over Alabama. SEC was not very good this year. @CFBPlayoff @joelklatt @KirkHerbstreit

Kansas now ranks 50th in the amount of federal funds we leverage to support our state.
We can turn this around by expanding KanCare, which will bring back federal dollars to stimulate the economy, protect rural communities & hospitals and improve the health of Kansans.
