There are some Panthers players on Defense that need to take a leap in production this year if the unit wants to become a top 10 side and push the team to serious playoff contention. These are guys that I think WILL take that leap and take us there. Thread below

1. Nic Scourton This isn’t a hot take by any means. The former 2nd round pick showed he’s got the juice his Rookie Year. With 5 sacks and led the team in pressures he had a successful rookie campaign. Coaches rave about his leadership. 8+ sacks off his edge takes the D places

I hope Moton sticks around as long as possible, even at the cost he is at. One of the best Linemen in franchise history and still at an elite level. Hunt is the most interesting one moving forward, can he stay healthy/be worth the contract? I don’t know if Icky would stay to be a guard, I think he would move on to be a starting LT somewhere else. He would command good money on the market still

That’s why i said let him work at rt this year to see if he shows anything. if not move on/move him to guard and let hunt walk since he’s getting a fuckton. Ickey ain’t commanding much off an injury

I’m not sure. It wouldn’t make sense, personally. Ekwonu has never played a down on the left side and it would be quite the transition for him. Right now, I have a hard time envisioning Ekwonu in the #Panthers future plans.

@Jared_NFLDraft @CatCraveBlog Do you think they could view Ickey as the heir apparent to Moton and shift him to RT? Taylor is getting up there in age and his contract is due after next season. Let Ickey heal this season and give him a year under Moton.

Our o-line is $90 mil of our cap. Next highest in entire league is $70 mil. With Bryce contract coming we just cannot give icky a deal and make that number even higher. Moving to RT sounds nice but he’s never done it, do you give him a contract for something you don’t know he can do? I wouldn’t doubt Moton holding it down longer than we expect either.

@michaelstewar17 @Jared_NFLDraft can’t have everyone on a rookie contract and icky is only like 24. He’s not a bad player at all. Honestly i see him just spend the year taking reps at RT and switching to thag next year. We get 10 years younger at the position with someone who’s been here.

4. Cam Jackson Granted, we didn’t see much from Cam his rookie season. The reports are the coaching staff loves him. And with Turk’s injury and ARob leaving, he’s going to see the field. At 6’6 330, he’s a monster on the line. Our run defense needs his untapped potential.
