@JasonHjal @seanorr @KenSimCity not being able to heat my home and cook on my gas stove to ‘save the planet’ while the rest of the world burns coal and buys a jillion tons of our Natural gas to do the same is retarded. Anyone who insists we pay more with less freedom in this matter is retarded. Hope this helps

@seanorr is doing an incredible job grilling @KenSimCity about the lies he is telling while trying to kill the city's climate policy. Specifically, Orr asked if Sim believed in human caused climate change, and Sim gave utter nonsense in response, did not say "yes". #vanpoli

Before Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim falsely claimed that City Councillor Sean Orr was distributing drugs on Christmas Day… Mayor Sim harassed Councillor Orr on multiple occasions, as determined by a city Code of Conduct investigation. Will Sim apologize? vancouver.ca/files/cov/inte…

@VancouverPD ‘Mental health’ GTFO. This is a criminal without a care for the wellbeing of the rest of us yet he’ll face negligible consequences as ‘mental health’ will be a mitigating factor. This lazy catch-all line being parroted by even the VPD causes citizens to be put in danger daily

#VPDNews: A senior citizen was critically injured and two Vancouver Police Department officers were taken to hospital with injuries after a male driver allegedly rammed several vehicles, sped through a section of Nelson Park, and intentionally drove along a sidewalk in Vancouver's West End Friday morning. The senior remains in hospital in critical condition. The VPD officers are also in hospital being treated for their injuries. The incident was reported at about 5:30 a.m. when a vehicle was observed driving erratically in the area of Comox and Broughton streets, striking numerous objects, including the Nelson Park dog area. Several witnesses nearby had to scramble to get out of the way of the suspect's vehicle. The senior, who was riding a motorized scooter at the time, was unable to evade the driver. The suspect was eventually stopped after he rammed a police vehicle responding to the scene, destroying the cruiser and flipping the suspect's vehicle. He was trapped inside the vehicle and arrested near Comox and Bute streets. Multiple ambulances responded along with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services who were able to free the man from the wreckage. Mental health and drug use issues are possible factors in this incident. The Major Crimes Unit is investigating. The motive remains unclear at this time. The VPD will update the public as more information becomes available. Comox Street between Thurlow and Bute remains closed to the public for the time being.

@ArminderRand Ever life is precious. lol. Please! Anyone can walk into a hospital and say I’m depressed with a touch of back pain. They’ll be MAID’d by the evening. I’m sure you support this so why not the free will of those who want to launch off a structure in the city?

Every life is precious. Every life is worth saving. Behind every death is a family changed forever. I can’t imagine the trauma carried by the first responders who were there or had to deliver the devastating news to loved ones. Build the barriers. 🌹
Kareem Allam@kareemformayor

Being mayor is a daily test of making hard decisions. But occasionally, a mayor faces an easy one. Since March, the Vancouver Liberals have called for suicide barriers on the Granville Bridge: x.com/kareemformayor… Ken Sim and ABC voted against the suicide barriers, and it’s not even in the capital plan for the next 4 years. The money to do it is there: ❌ $6 million in developer charges—somehow not collected ❌ $13 million for FIFA tickets ❌ $54 million for Granville Bridge upgrades (see promised vs. delivered below) ❌ $64 million cash for an unbuilt Art Gallery and a $100m public land donation ❌ $120 million in overruns for the PNE Amphitheater ❌ Property taxes increased by $700m/yr Ken Sim, make the easy decision. Build the barrier.

Anti-Israel chalk messages (and stickers) have repeatedly appeared across Vancouver’s Oak Street, the historic Jewish corridor, since Oct. 7. From @scharatze to the VGH. Residents say they clean the slogans, report to @vancouverpolice @CityofVancouver but the solo pro-Palestinian activist they say is behind the campaign hasn't been charged. “I just want to go to the bus stop or walk around the park and not have to see this hate.” On @TheCJN's "North Star" podcast we go inside Vancouver’s Israel-Gaza chalk war. 🎧thecjn.ca/news/vancouver…

I literally provided the reason, and a map, of the interconnect for downtown Vancouver, the TRUNK carrier line for THE WHOLE COUNTRY to Asia runs out of downtown Vancouver. I literally showed a photo of an existing data center in Downtown Vancouver that exists, and has for 20+ years, bothering nobody, every single large-ish city *in the world* has data centers downtown already. I am an expert in this subject, I was on the founding team and the head of strategy at one of the largest cloud providers in the world. Here is a data center the size of a city block in the middle of Manhattan. Having personally racked servers inside it, I can assure you the traffic and tourists outside are considerably louder and causes considerably more issues for the community than a building full of computers.

Exciting to see major investments in AI infrastructure coming to Vancouver. As AI continues to transform our economy and daily lives, data sovereignty, secure Canadian data storage, and local computing capacity are becoming more important than ever. This is a major opportunity to strengthen Vancouver’s position as a global hub for innovation, technology, and the future economy. 🇨🇦🤖

Half the people talking about the Telus data center in Vancouver are literally some of the dumbest people in Canada I swear to god. Why Telus? -Because who TF else is going to build it? Why downtown Vancouver? -Because that's where the fucking internet exchange is. Downtown in a city is the most retarded place for a data center!!!11!!11! -No, you're literally an idiot stfu. The data center will be loud and create loads of issues for people?? -NO, you're literally an idiot stfu. Why is Telus the only business in Canada who can build data center infrastructure? -Because they've been doing it for the past 15 years and they know how to do it. Why is there nobody else in Canada who can do it? -Because they all work at Telus. Can't Rogers do it? -No. Can't Bell do it? - LOL. Why can't some other company other than Telus do it? -Because there is literally nobody else. How can a company with no experience in data centers build data center? - They have 5 data centers already and building a data center has less to do with what is inside and more to do with the services it provides and the SLA. How can it be true that the only qualified party to take on one of the most important technology projects in the country is one of the biggest technology companies in the country? - ... How can it be true there is only one qualified party in the country? - Why would the opposite be true?

Yet again, Coun. @PeterMeiszner demonstrates how petty, disrespectful and unserious he is. I lived and survived on the streets of VANCOUVER for decades, I went to detox and recovery in VANCOUVER, I work in VANCOUVER now helping people accessing recovery in VANCOUVER. I have not hidden the fact that I’m raising my family in the suburbs. But please, Mr. Yaletown, continue to demonstrate how little you care about anyone who lives or works in Vancouver that isn’t an immediate neighbour of yours 🙄
