While the sculpture resembles the interior ribbing and shape of a canoe, it also calls upon the Ho-Chunk tradition of basket weaving practiced by his parents. It demonstrates Lowe’s familiarity and sensitivity to the structure of wood and the extent to which it can be manipulated
