Anyone joining the EU agrees to adopt the Euro, when it meets conditions known as 'convergence criteria' ... see below ... That is mandatory!
The way Sweden has avoided it to date is that one of said convergence criteria is to join and successfully participate for a minimum of 2 years in the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II) ... The participation in ERM II is, currently, voluntary.
However, with the clearly stated aim of the EU to push towards ever greater federalisation, next steps being the removal of member vetos, already underway via adoption of Qualified Majority Voting (QMV), the establishment of federal law enforcement (EU Police) and federal defence capabilities (EU Army), how long before participation in ERM II becomes mandatory, bringing into play the already agreed legal obligation to join the Euro (and Schengen)?
Be honest about what joining that venal and corrupt EU will cost.

We wouldn’t have to join Schengen or the Euro. But going by the relative cost of UK mortgages and state of immigration since leaving the EU, we’d be better off in both. Access to EU markets is worth far more than the rebate Brexit wasted. Be honest about what staying out costs

@FergusMason25 @DrPhillipLee Sweden joined in 1995 and still hasn't adopted the Euro, and it has no opt out clause. No country has ever adopted the Euro unwillingly. Schengen is a separate treaty that requires separate negotiations, so no obligation to join either.
