Finally made myself a little personal portfolio/speaker website, with a nostalgic twist... Which Internet era are you nostalgic for? 🤩 moriel.tech

@EBogomolovs I was originally inspired by "grill-me" skill but decided to go for a more robust (and probably more token heavy) version of these specific corners of the industry Those are the originals. 😎🔥

@mooeypoo Most 'rigorous' skill packs already produce 10x techbro outputs. Yours is the one that names it. The deck for VCs writes itself. Does the README cite the originals, or does that part go in the appendix?

Everyone’s posting AI skills to make agents less sycophantic and more rigorous I took it to its natural conclusion: I made a satirical skill pack that turns your AI into a 10x techbro with zero chill. No, I do not apologize. Deck for VCs dropping soon github.com/mooeypoo/techb…

Entry-level tech jobs dropped 20% in two years. Everyone's blaming AI. I think we're measuring the wrong variable. Junior developers weren't hired for the boilerplate. Cutting them isn't a cost saving. It's eating your seed corn. blog.moriel.tech/posts/2026-05-…

Your app passed the accessibility audit. Your users are still getting lost. Cognitive load isn't a neurodivergent problem. It's a human problem. Neurodivergent users just hit the wall first. New video — with wigs. youtu.be/u-wJtB1ogZA

If you work in software, you already know it's an adventure. Now you can play through it! DDDnD: a satirical web game where YOU are the architecture hero, out on the quest of rescuing systems and balancing stakeholders. Onwards, software hero! dddnd.app

New video: AI agents don't just need APIs and MCP servers -- they also run into the same confusing buttons, vague labels, mystery icons, and messy workflows humans do. Turns out AI may be stress-testing our UX 😅 youtube.com/v/DmSGZk1uUCg #UX #AI #ProductDesign

I let AI build an app step-by-step and forced it to explain every assumption it made. and… it didn’t do anything weird. It made the same assumptions we do. Turns out "we'll fix it later" is less of a plan and more of an architecture strategy. youtube.com/watch?v=ehRD-i…

I let an AI iteratively build an app and forced it to document every assumption it made along the way. What emerged was a surprisingly accurate mirror of how real software teams drift into invisible defaults and "we'll fix it later" decisions. blog.moriel.tech/posts/genai-lo…

Character counters looks trivial, but they're surprisingly more complex than we think. What are we counting? Bytes? Visible width? DB storage? Those aren't the same problem. But we use the same counters. Here's why "0/280" is more complex than it looks: youtube.com/watch?v=FvicVg…

We still design software for a "local user." Single language. Single currency. Single country. That user doesn’t exist. Language ≠ location. Currency ≠ geography. Identity ≠ borders. This isn’t translation. It’s a systems modeling problem. youtube.com/watch?v=dzHLk_…

AI can write code. It can test it. Deploy it. Refactor it. But it can't understand people. And software that ignores human context fails — no matter how clean the code is. New video: AI Can Write Code. It Can’t Understand Humans. youtube.com/watch?v=yTnC4J…

My interview in the Maintainable Software podcast is out! I talked about modernizing software, maintainability, approaching modernization without "running after fads", and why having product vision is crucial for architecture. Enjoy! maintainable.fm/episodes/morie…

@kepano @obsdmd And yes! "Start"/"end" make things a lot easier to convert and uses RTL/LTR because the conceptual meaning is clearer. It makes it a little more clear when you should flip things ("backwards" is flipped) and when not ("the left button" is probly still on the left)

Still very WIP but I am revamping the @obsdmd UI for right-to-left languages such as Arabic, Dhivehi, Hebrew, Farsi, Syriac, Urdu. So many little questions I had never thought about until now: - Which way does a "back" arrow go? - Do progress bars fill right-to-left? - Are slashes in paths reversed? - Do window buttons get mirrored on major OSes? This has been an eye-opening experience as someone who is not RTL native. Using start/end values rather than left/right is something I will be thinking about with every project going forward.
