@SkullinIt_ @rocco_botte Do you talk to people in real life this sarcastically, or does the internet enable you to talk to another human being this way?

@mormcore @rocco_botte I didn't know that improv was reading what was in the screenplay verbatim. Thanks so much Mormcore for letting me know the true meaning of improv

@mormcore @rocco_botte The writing for mutant mayhem was terrible. It was a millenials attempt at writing Gen Z dialogue

@rocco_botte This film was always going to be bad, Mel brooks barely has any involvement except a producer credit. This is directed by the guy who did ‘Strays’, and the screenplay is done by the writers of ‘TMNT: mutant mayhem’, and ‘Addams Family 2’ (the animated one, not the 90s one)

I wonder if @SandyofCthulhu has any corrections or additions for my list. It casts a very wide net, and I don't really have super strict parameters other than what I find interesting/significant. bckl.gg/deH4

@benlusty @NoblestCalling I think I’m in the majority of people who actually have no problem with this on principal, but dislike the frequency. You’d expect to see the norm talked about more often than the exception.

@nihilists4jesus Cmon now But seriously, maybe we should use our logic the other way. If we shouldn’t be drinking coffee and tea, we shouldn’t be drinking energy drinks, preworkouts, or caffeinated sodas. Embrace the Spirit of the Law not Letter of the Law

people can argue about the reasons for this, but the leadership of the church (and President Oaks in particular) have long been troubled by the partisan imbalance among the membership of the church, lessening the GOP chokehold on the membership is a good thing
Deseret News@Deseret

🔗: bit.ly/4m2lxXm American members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stood out over the past 20 years as the only religious group besides atheists that shifted toward greater Democratic Party self-identification. Latter-day Saints remain the second most Republican-leaning religious group in the United States but a new Cooperative Election Study analysis found this GOP advantage has shrunk by around 10 percentage points. Read more about the shift at the link above. ✏️: @BrighamTomco, Deseret News 🎨: Eliza Anderson, Deseret News

@WallStreetMav @bestofstarwar Jar Jar Binks was for the kids, not YOU. They didn't care if adults hated Binks. Kids loved him. Mission accomplished. That's how you make movies last. Next trilogy, OGs won't watch it, but their grown up kids will. Do it for THEIR kids. Rinse and repeat.

@lizbusby This makes some amount of sense for academics, but I previously was invited to speak on an MHA panel and only had to pay the membership fee. I am not an academic and have very little interest in networking. Oh well!

@mormcore The value for you as an attendee is the opportunity to network and workshop a piece of research that eventually becomes a refereed article you need for tenure. So the model doesn't work well for attendees who aren't in the typical academic track.

Who at MHA thought of the bright idea of making their panel presenters pay for attending the entire conference, even if it is at a slightly discounted rate? Do they realize that the presenters are the ones doing the work for free to enable them to even have a conference?
