One of the most powerful moments of Pope Leo XIV’s Africa trip: his visit to Bata Prison in Equatorial Guinea, where hundreds of inmates greeted him with songs and begged for prayers - for mercy and for freedom. Not even the pouring rain could dim this encounter. Pope Leo gifted them a statue of St. Francis of Assisi and received a beautiful hand-carved wooden crucifix in return.
