@LinzBl @timspector Nothing will persuade me to use a microwave oven. Food quality is destroyed, judging by what research has been done, and we still don’t know enough about other negative impacts because not enough quality research exists. Better safe than injured!

Hi @LushLtd, why on Earth are you growing and selling carnivorous plants in peat, and claiming it’s peat-free cork waste and recycled glass? Disappointed to say the least…

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 Arrests starting at Kingsbury Oil Terminal. The Just Stop Oil supporters, many of whom have already taken action this year, are likely to face a charge of contempt of court. If found guilty, they could be imprisoned for up to two years. #CivilResistance

Random energy Twitter question… We've been away so I can see our baseline electricity usage is 2kWh/day I reckon the fridge + freezer combined ought to be only about half that Router shouldn't be much… Only other thing I can think of is MVHR – could that be 1kWh/day?

There are 3 garden Amaranthus species that you might find as outcasts on waste ground. The really easy one is Love-lies-bleeding (A. caudatus) with its long, colourful tassels (left). A. hypochondriacus has stiff upright tassels (right)

The genus with the most fearsome reputation as being hard to identify is Amaranthus. In former centuries, there were dozens of similar-looking species imported with contaminated seed crops and as hitch-hikers on packing materials. They were sub-tropical weeds of waste ground.

@lifewithsommer So how many people do you think the earth can carry? At what point would it be overpopulated, regardless of race?

I am delighted at the news that the government - at long last - is to impose a ban on peat-based composts from 2024. I also applaud its proposals to assist reclamation and recover of peatlands. /1

Saw that Farage was at RAF Tangmere yesterday but weirdly ... didn't mention Douglas Bader perhaps the most famous pilot to fly out of there. Then I came across this from 2 years ago - which might explain why.

27/6/22 Highland - I saw some fantastic plants in Scotland but the fauna delighted in equal measure. I'd never come across a Bee Beetle (Trichius) but I was pretty pleased to recognise it. I think this magnificent creature is T. fasciatus, but I'll leave that to the experts...
