Feels like a good time to share the @ncte Statement on Independent reading. ncte.org/statement/inde…

@KyleneBeers Those of us who have read your books know better than to believe that claim. I look forward to reading it.

@DanielleBeave20 You haven't done anything wrong. I honestly think people are tired of seeing them. People have been sharing their lists all year.

@mremrich1 This is what happens in my child's district. There are no AP classes. They do what is called College Credit Plus. They can stay at the school for the classes or go to the college and get them face to face. My son graduated hs with 62 college credits.

As a middle school teacher with no experience teaching AP, I can't help but wonder:
Should school districts consider partnering with colleges to offer courses in high schools providing students with an opportunity to earn college credit without the added pressure of AP tests?

The 2023 AP US Government and Politics scores: 5: 13%; 4: 11%; 3: 25%; 2: 24%; 1: 27%. These scores and the required points are consistent over the past decade. I wish colleges were less stringent in the points they require for 3s/4s/5s in this subject!

@MrMarvelTeacher I haven't seen you in my feed for a long time. I thought you had left. I'm glad to see you again.

Teachers,
You are my tribe, I love you all. Lately, I have had to change my posts because I am getting bombarded with list drops (without permission) or I am being tagged with demands to RT or follow to get more visibility.

@flyingmonkey13 I have, thank you. It has taken a lot of reflection and acknowledging successes that others may not outright see.
English

@GiftedTawk I can say that it's a really bad idea for those of us who blindly reach for their chapstick but also carry glue sticks.

@SustainTeaching I often provide a selection of choices, such as writing topics or final project format. However, with reading choice, it's all on them. I will give recommendations if they ask.

@jk_rowling My 16 yo daughter has rediscovered her love of reading, and is now working her way through your books for the first time. I cannot describe how excited I am for her to be taking this literary journey.
