The Trump administration sent Frengel Reyes Mota to a gulag in El Salvador with no due process. He has no criminal record. No gang affiliations. He doesn't even have tattoos. This was most likely a paperwork error by DHS and now he's rotting in hell with no way out.

This week started with administration officials refusing to acknowledge that Russia started the war in Ukraine. It ends with a tense, shocking conversation in the Oval Office and whispers from the White House that they may try to end all U.S. support for Ukraine. I know foreign policy is not for the faint of heart, but right now, I am sick to my stomach as the administration appears to be walking away from our allies and embracing Putin, a threat to democracy and U.S. values around the world.

A Christmas miracle! In the early hours of Christmas Day, Sonje presented our Umani family with the most wonderful gift: her first child, a newborn baby girl. We have named her Sulwe, which means ‘morning star’ in the Luo language. Sonje is one of Umani’s pioneering elephants. Shot by poachers as a baby, she miraculously survived but will always walk with a serious limp. But as Sonje reminds us, even the most far-gone cases have hope. Now, Sonje has welcomed her very own baby into the world! We’re putting together the full story, but we couldn’t wait to share this wonderful news with you.
