You can usually tell when something was written by AI because it repeats the same words, transitions, and sentence structures over and over again. Once you notice it, you can’t unsee it. Words and phrases I tell AI to avoid: “delve” “streamline” “robust” “leverage” “unlock” “elevate” “seamless” “cutting-edge” “game changer” “in today’s fast-paced world” “whether you’re” “it’s important to note” “not only that, but” “furthermore” “moreover” “revolutionize” “enhance” “optimize” “tailored” “empower” “maximize” “take your business to the next level” “navigate” “utilize” “ensure” “foster” “dynamic” “transformative” Just instruct AI to avoid using these words altogether and you will instantly elevate and transformatively enhance your emails in a very robust way.

Bonus tip: You can paste these instructions directly into: ChatGPT Custom Instructions a Project instruction set or the top of your prompt That way every response automatically follows these writing rules moving forward instead of fixing the tone afterward.

Most people blame AI. Usually it’s just generic prompting.

AI today is benefiting SMB’s by helping them automate tasks (saving employees time) rather than replacing employees altogether.

One pattern showing up across almost every small business AI study: The first real ROI usually comes from saving owner time, not replacing employees. Studies show businesses are seeing wins from: • faster customer replies • easier content creation • admin automation • better follow-up systems Boring tasks are where AI hits hardest first.

A lot of small business owners think AI adoption is already “too late.” The data says otherwise. Most SMBs are still extremely early. One recent survey found only about 1 in 4 small businesses had deeply integrated AI into operations. There’s still a massive gap between “used ChatGPT once” and actual operational AI.

One of the most overlooked AI stats for small businesses: A 2025 small business survey found 98% of companies using AI said it had NOT reduced employee headcount. At least right now, SMBs seem to be using AI more as a force multiplier than a replacement for staff.

Interesting disconnect in small business AI adoption right now: 82% of SMB owners say AI will be essential to staying competitive… …but only 25% have actually integrated it into daily operations. A lot of businesses are still in the “experimenting with ChatGPT” phase rather than rebuilding workflows around AI.

Me: “I’m not obsessed with conversions.” Also me changing the button from “Learn More” to “Get Started” and watching CTR jump 0.8%:

One of the more interesting AI stats from small business research this year: Among SMBs already using AI: • 66% said productivity increased • 44% saw cost savings • 40% reported revenue growth What’s notable is that most aren’t using advanced custom AI systems. A lot of the gains are coming from basic workflow automation, customer communication, and content tasks.
