@AdamJoseph Love Mateus but I don't mind spurs going down for the banter and we find an alternative midfield option or negotiate hard with west ham lol . Spurs relegation means we can probably sneak Senesi for free who can provide decent cover to our injury prone players.

@utdrobbo I agree he could be a good option in central midfield with Mainoo himself and a marquee player there . But he can also fill in for bruno or Cunha in the number 10 role whenever needed as well. I just think we could get rid of send mount out on loan to make room as well.

I think the dynamics of the midfield would not be dissimilar to that of Mainoo-Mount which Carrick has intentionally been using recently (I believe) to test it.
Much more suited in the first phase + availability is obviously better but I quite enjoy the thought of that rotation.

He comfortably fits into the category of a "safe" signing like Anderson but at a fraction of the price with similar upside + experience.
I also doubt he would demand to start every game which would benefit his progression massively as he'd be phenomenal off the bench at 8 or 10.

@nihalrao @raju_bhaai_ Agreed. It's not easy to fill Butler's shoes when he most likely leaves in the Mega Auction. Pant could be their best bet. But the question is, would Pant play under someone else's captaincy?

United seemingly pushing a bit further ahead on Ederson & Fernandes this week. Lot of getting players lined up. Getting the players willingness and want to join is such a big part of the strategy, they have it with Baleba & Ederson, pushing for it on Fernandes. Things could really kick off soon.

Manchester United supporters are definitely wanting Tottenham to stay up so that West Ham go down. Said it before, I'll say it again - Mateus Fernandes is the can't miss summer signing. They'll regret it if they don't get him & it's why every big club is looking at him.
Relegation to bring the fee down from £70m-£80m to £50m-£60m, with Agent Bruno to the seal the deal.

@cheesyfries66 @KingFemi__ See The main reason it is disappointing is we never seem to prioritise technical midfielders who are good on the ball. I would be happy with ederson if we compliment with good midfield additions like anderson fernandes or wharton. Or else this guy is another fred , herrera etc.

This tracks with reporting out of Manchester United on CMs, Laurie Whitwell said yesterday that the club are working on personal terms with players so they can move quickly when the time comes.
I'm not a huge Ederson fan. There's better value in the market, particularly for a player turning 27 in July with a year left on his deal for £40m. I can see the logic in the move for him as the 3rd CM, here's why.
While primarily an #8, he can also play #6 & #10. He can carry the ball forward but able to sit in for his pivot partner. Retains possessions, wins it back & recovers it at high volume. His role versatility is valuable.
I'd rather see what happens with the combination of the three midfielders then go crazy overreacting.

@AdamJoseph I don’t see much wrong with signing Ederson as a 3rd midfielder. He’d be decent squad depth, which is important. No team has 4 world class midfielders for 2 positions. As long as there are 2 starting level midfielders alongside him, and the price isn’t crazy, I’m fine.
