@SlaterNFL if you haven't read the book you should read it! It's got way more science and engineering detail and some cool sci fi suggestions. Most of the details are there in the sets and background of the movie but not discussed.

Project Hail Mary was cute but as a sci fi nerd I wanted more layers like Interstellar, Contact. The whole movie I’m thinking he’s in a wormhole, Rocky is his future self, the ship is the tesseract and nah…Just a guy and his ancient rock. I count the days to Disclosure Day.

@rohithklv @amb_cinemas hmm interesting, when I saw this intro sequence in the US, I thought the colors didn't look all the saturated. It felt like I was watching something in rec709 with extra brightness/contrast vs when I go to Dolby Cinema (or most laser projections) feel like P3 or rec2020

It’s a privilege to make a movie. A bigger one to do it with your best friend. Bigger still to have so much help from so many brilliant artists and friends old and new. But the biggest privilege of all is when people you’ve never met give you their time and attention and take a seat. Without that generosity a film cannot exist. Thank you, friends. Thank you strangers. Hope you love it.

@chrizmillr @BurnishedAbbey did you guys make a version for Barco HDR and what are the ratios there (eg for Regal RPX or Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco)? What about Samsung Onyx (e.g. Star Cinema Grill in Houston)?

Exciting news to share about the various formats you can see Project Hail Mary in cinemas. We shot everything that happens in space (3/4 of the movie) in native 1.43:1 aspect ratio, and everything on earth (1/4) at a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. There are three ways to see the film in IMAX. There will be gorgeous 15-perf 70mm IMAX film prints in the 1.43 aspect ratio at select theaters, and beautifully colorful digital versions at 1.43 or 1.85 depending on the theater. They all look amazing. There also are select theaters showing traditional 5-perf 70mm film prints in a 2.0 aspect ratio which look rich, warm and incredible. The digital versions of the movie were also filmed onto celluloid (using two different film stocks) and rescanned using a “film out” process that our cinematographer Greig Fraser also used on Dune and The Batman, which give a beautiful warmth and natural grain to the visuals. There are other premium large formats in the 2.0 ratio like Dolby Cinema (where the richness of space and the sound are especially amazing), XD with its very large screens and booming audio, 4DX and D-BOX where the seats move along with the visuals and make for an interactive experience, ScreenX, which has side screens with extended footage that give yau an immersive 270 degree view, and more. Or you can go see it at your local independent cinema - the way I saw many of my favorite movies of all time. A lot of great options - but whichever you choose, we highly recommend seeing it on the largest screen with the best sound in your area that you can afford. You will be glad you did. Tickets on sale tomorrow!

@batman73006 @rohithklv @CinemasBroadway how does that Palazzo size even make sense? That's not an IMAX aspect ratio (1.79:1 is what you're saying for Palazzo. The Coimbatore place is correctly coming to 1.9:1)

@rohithklv @CinemasBroadway Palazzo is is 70x39ft this is 71x37.4ft. even the 71 is considering the curvature. If it is bigger then they would have clearly mentioned it as South India's biggest IMAX similar to EPIQ.

If everything goes smooth as planned. Best formats to watch #Avatar3 in #Bangalore are 1. Dolby Cinema #AMBcinemas 2. PVR Laser IMAX #Nexus #koramangala 3. Xenon IMAX Audi's 4. PXL formats 2D if they play, if not, 3D. 5. Followed by #4DX, #ScreenX and #ICE My fav picks are first two,but I will wait for the price comes down to 350 or 300. I feel anything more than that process range is not worthy. @DolbyCinema @IMAX @INOXMovies @_PVRCinemas @amb_cinemas The best part now is—I don’t have to run to Hyd for every event movie unless if that movie demands bigger screen of DC 😄 #Dune3 let's decide then.

Hey Nikil, Yeah AMB not opened yet, but PVR Laser is in final touchups ( as per last update ) will be open in few days. 3. HFR and Asp, I choose Xenon atleast. 4. As per the info, 3D venues will have only 2K DCP ( HFR is depends on projector, guess no Non Imaxes venues in Blre playing HFR.

@ryanrossnow HOA doesn’t typically do things directly inside your home I wouldn’t think. I’d be a huge fan of having an HOA that handled everything home ownership related for me…

There’s a huge opportunity in solving this problem: The friction of home ownership vs. renting. When you rent, you have a single point-of-contact for all problems. When you own, you have to somehow stay on top of the long list of recurring and one-off maintenance things. I’d gladly pay $500+ per month to have 24/7 access to a “home manager” who could be the single point-of-contact for my home. • Schedules all recurring services • Coordinates all one-off services • Consolidates all service costs into one bill It’s probably a local/regional business (probably hard to coordinate the service provider relationships at scale), but a huge opportunity nonetheless. Could be a franchise model with software at top and local franchises. It solves a real home ownership pain point, so I’d bet a young hustler could go door to door and probably sell 100 houses at $500 per month over a single weekend… I’m sure there are some people trying to do this, but I haven’t ever been pitched on it for my homes, so it clearly hasn’t scaled yet. It feels similar to the local/regional pest control business opportunity that has now become pretty saturated. What am I missing?

@SahilBloom the home warranty kind of does this but doesn't go all the way to just fixing it and moving on, because the incentive then becomes how do I maximize margin by minimizing cost, so they try not to fix things if they can get away with it or use used replacement parts

@nikil_ragav @Duderichy Wild…I’ve worked for 20 yrs at a couple spots, every employer never had to “know everyone’s medical conditions and choose the right insurance for everyone” And having a crappy one…I assure you is better than having none or going out on the open mkt with a pre-existing…
