@VirginMediaIE are impossible to contact - M-F 9-6 and each time wait time is >1hr. When I did get through I was transferred and then call disconnected. Lodged a complaint and got no complaint reference. And they advertise that they get less complaints than other providers…

@AnnOnAMouse22 @TaralyonG Totally disagree. I manage phone use but what do I do when im told the teachers permit it - if there was a blanket rule and my kids used their phone they would lose it and would think twice. I can’t police if they are allowed their phones

@TaralyonG @nikimdoyle It all begins with consistent parenting. That’s the really uncomfortable crux of the phone problem. Social media awash with parents claiming Teachers can’t tackle the phone issue. Pure projection IMO. Kids raised with no respect for rules or authority isn’t the Teachers problem.

34 years teaching and have NEVER had a class where students were glued to their phones… my job to get them to put phones away and they do. Norma? This is codswallop … and you know it. This will change none of the issues for teens due to mobile phones.. nothing.

@TaralyonG I think it’s great you can manage it but i know from looking at my kids screen time that that isn’t widespread. I think we need a consistent approach that is across all schools

@nikimdoyle No one does… but since students have had them, this is my experience.

@TaralyonG My point is you don’t have 34 years experience teaching kids when phones were an issue

@nikimdoyle Yes I have taught for 34 yrs and in that time (including today) I haven’t had students with phones causing an issue.

@cooper_m @theirishguy2016 Research says if phones can be taken in and out during the day you don’t get full benefits - need to be all in. We should fund technology if needed for CBAs

Mobile phones shouldn’t be in schools but who should pay for the pouches?

@cooper_m Also, if CBAs require technology, the schools should be funded for this, we shouldn’t be relying on students phones to do course work - it makes it too difficult for schools to stop phone use

@cooper_m Pouch controversy is detracting from the main issue - we need a central policy on phones to be passed to schools. It should be consistent across schools rather than at their discretion (easy to back out of taking a tough stand). Research - pouches only work if phones in all day

6. In Norway you get a small amount of money for recycling bottles/cans. They're often collected by poor people, homeless etc. A lot of our trash cans has these holders around them so people don't have to search through the trash to collect them
