@RnaudBertrand @kejimao US doesn't need 2 sell d China Treat 2 Asian countries India, Jpn, Ph or even tiny Bhutan sharing borders with expansionist China. Han CCP regime bullies r doing it themselves through aggressive imperialist foreign policies learned from d Muricans, who're just talking advantage!

Another fascinating article by my friend @kejimao, who remains one of the most thought-provoking geopolitical scholars in China: thewire.in/diplomacy/ches… He tackles an apparent contradiction that I know many people are struggling with: if there is indeed some form of detente between the U.S. and China, why then is the U.S. still selling the "China threat" narrative to countries like India, Japan, and South Korea? Mao's thesis: the U.S. now understands it cannot contain or suppress China anymore - that game is over. But the narrative remains enormously profitable. Keeping allies scared means keeping them buying US weapons, US energy, US technology. The China threat has gone from strategic doctrine to market preservation, or - as Mao puts it - from treating "allies" as "chess pieces" to treating them as "blood bags" (as in the medical bags you drain until it's empty and then discard). Mao, being an India specialist and writing in an Indian paper, warns India it is particularly vulnerable to this because whatever leverage India once had over Washington has largely evaporated. The U.S. needed India when it believed it could contain China. It no longer believes that - which means India has gone from being courted to being invoiced. There is, interestingly, a parallel to this around green energy that I myself highlighted in several of my articles (such as this one in Le Monde Diplomatique last December: mondediplo.com/2025/12/10china). Trump's anti-renewable rhetoric - "drill, baby, drill," calling green energy a "hoax" - functions exactly like this: it's not really about energy policy at home (renewables made up an extraordinary 88% of new US power generating capacity in 2025: electrek.co/2026/04/01/fer…), it's about keeping others dependent on US fossil fuels. In essence, as things stand, neither the "China threat" nor the "green energy hoax" are operative strategies. They're sales pitches. The U.S. doesn't act on either one - it installs renewables at home and pursues détente with Beijing. The narratives exist for the purpose of keeping invoices flowing to countries foolish enough to drink the Kool-Aid.

Shocked by the horrific harassment of two girls from Northeast in national capital. Even more disturbing is the apparent reluctance of @DelhiPolice to treat this case with the seriousness it deserves. @himantabiswa @gupta_rekha @BJP4Delhi @KirenRijiju

#WATCH | Two young women from the Northeast were allegedly subjected to harassment and physical assault in South Delhi’s Nehru Place, in an incident that has once again raised serious concerns over the safety of women from the region in the national capital. The victims, one from Assam and the other from Nagaland, claimed they were surrounded and attacked by a group of seven men early Sunday morning. They have also accused the police of failing to act promptly despite repeated appeals for help. Recounting the sequence of events, one of the victims said they had initially tried to ignore the harassment, but the situation quickly escalated. The victims further claimed that their ordeal continued even after they approached the police. The second victim echoed similar concerns, alleging that they continued to face intimidation even after filing a complaint. Read the full story on the website. #Delhi #Northeast #Women #Harassment

@iRoopmati What's there to demand respect from gobars, most other NE people prefer not to engage with pigs. The Arunchalis have an urge to be Hindian. They share border with Assam, all early educators/teachers in erstwhile NEFA were mostly Assamese, today they feel more close to Biharis.

Angered by the repeated attacks on North East people in Mainland India. The physical attack on two of our people from Manipur and Assam near Saket Court, Delhi is sickening. Racial bullying should not be accepted as the new normal and we must act against it. Urge the authorities to take stringent action. @gupta_rekha

#WATCH | A few tourists were seen hanging from a living root bridge and performing pull-ups in Meghalaya, drawing sharp reactions from locals who fear the act could damage the centuries-old natural structure. A video of the incident has been circulating on social media. Locals say that the living root bridges are fragile, bio-engineered structures formed over decades, and any undue stress on the roots could weaken them over time. #meghalaya #livingrootbridge #TheAssamTribune

Shocking: A foreign tourist was harassed by two men in Mumbai who repeatedly demanded a selfie, despite her saying no multiple times. Do you think she’ll ever want to return to India after this? Disgusting! @MumbaiPolice, please find these clowns and make sure their “selfie moment” happens behind bars!

A man from North India threw orange peels on the road in Sikkim. The administration immediately stopped him and made him clean up the garbage. Why can’t such strict enforcement be implemented across India? And why do North Indians assume they can behave carelessly in the North East as if rules don’t apply there like UP Bihar ?

@TrueIndology People from NE rarely settle outside the region; even if they do, they don't trigger cultural invasion unlike the mainlanders. When the mainlanders come here they bring the cultural ruckus & poor civic sense along with them and practice economic and political expansionism.

Despite being culturally/genetically closer to China, Arunachalis are the least separatist & most patriotic in NE, that’s exactly why there’s no Kashmir-like situation in AP Yet @TrueIndology Arunachalese should let their land overrun by non-natives to avoid racism in Delhi

False equivalence. Typical True Dindology equating everyday racism by common people with ILP & militancy-related violence of 90s. And given that far more mainland Indians in the NE than Northeasterners do in the mainland, your entire premise collapses.
True Indology@TrueIndology

Racism is reprehensible, and it is encouraging to see swift action. But let’s stop pretending that stray insults by demented individuals are the worst form of racism in this country. What is far more serious is state-backed, institutional discrimination written into law. Citizens from Arunachal Pradesh can travel, work and live freely anywhere in India. But citizens from others states need an Inner Line Permit(ILP) to even travel to Arunachal. People from Arunachal can buy land freely anywhere in India. But citizens out of Northeast are not allowed to buy an inch of land in Arunachal and most other NE states. People from Arunachal can get a state government job in other Indian states but vice versa is not true. Arunachal issues its own "permanent resident" card for its "citizens". Indians outside are not eligible for it even if you manage to live there for decades. On one hand, they lecture how people of Arunachal are as Indian or more Indian than others. On the other hand, they issue for themselves separate PR cards excluding others. What matters more? Words or actions? Despite such protectionism, parts of the Northeast have witnessed violent insurgent movements that have killed civilians from other Indian states. Migrant communities, particularly Bengalis and Biharis, have been victims of such violence. On just one night in Khoirabari in 1998, 500 Bengali Hindus were slaughtered. There is no such equivalent racism NE citizens ever faced in other states. The worst they ever faced were stray racial taunts. That is all. The contradiction becomes sharper when viewed alongside the broader framework of concessions and protections extended to the region. Most local communities in the Northeast enjoy Scheduled Tribe (ST) status nationwide, and the region receives disproportionately high fiscal transfers and budgetary support. Five times more than average. Even when it comes to taxation, there are differences. Locals of Sikkim and Arunachal are exempt from paying income tax. These concessions and protectionist measures might arguably have made sense in the past when Arunachal was not as developed. But today, Arunchal, Sikkim and Mizoram are doing far better than most other Indian states in terms of Per Capita Income(PCI) and other economic KPIs. If racism is wrong, which it is, it must be consistently opposed. Condemning individual prejudice while overlooking institutional exclusion undermines the credibility of that stance. A serious national conversation requires acknowledging both interpersonal discrimination and structural asymmetry, without selective outrage. [Most of what I mentioned here is not applicable to GC Hindus from North East as they are exempt from all special privileges outlined above]
