Yeah, I appreciate that he's being up front. From some stuff I've seen (e.g. that security leak a few weeks ago) I think they are doing a lot with AI, and I think his take is interesting and probably not wrong. But I'm thinking about all those other companies out there that say "Oh we use AI" and they have 1 Claude account for the entire company and won't let their employees use it. When those companies do a layoff/downsize and blame AI, that's what makes me mad.

Just my 2 cents but one of the worst parts about the Meta AI layoffs is all the businesses out there that are going to try and copy Meta and do layoffs for the same reason. Or are going to use AI as the reason to do a layoff. Either way its bad.

On one had you've got people copying a bigger company ("If they do it, so should we!") which is just a terrible plan. On the other hand, you've got people scapegoating something instead of taking responsibility for a bad descision.

Its really awesome when you are chatting with Claude about a technical issue and it drops a bombshell, then codes it up in 30 seconds. On the plus side, my app now handles bounces and spam notifications better (yay email reputation!) On the negative side, I'm now losing users

I'm in an unsubscribe mood. Tired of hypocrisy. Tired being sold to constantly. 2/3 of an email dedicated to selling? I'm done. Make a crash out video counter to your core message, but keep it up for 2 weeks? (and include a pitch at the end of the video?!) Goodbye.

If you have to say "it's not a golden calf".... It's a golden calf.
Pastor Mark Burns@pastormarkburns

Today at Trump National Doral Miami, we witnessed an unforgettable moment with the dedication of the 22-foot statue honoring President Donald J. Trump. Let me be clear: this is not a golden calf. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone. This statue is a celebration of life. It is a symbol of resilience, freedom, patriotism, strength, and the will power to keep fighting for the future of America. It also stands as a reminder of the hand of God and His protection over President Trump’s life. Time and time again, when his life was threatened, God’s mercy prevailed. Today was not just a ribbon cutting. It was the public display of a powerful movement that has spread across America and around the world. I was deeply honored to serve as President Trump’s main point of contact throughout this process, and I do not take that assignment lightly. I want to personally thank Ash, Dustin Stockton, Brock Pierce, Hershey Friedman, Yaakov Filitchkin, Sam, Jack, and the 6,000+ Patriots who donated, believed, sacrificed, and made this historic moment possible. Thank you to the entire Trump Doral team for your incredible hospitality and excellence. And thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for calling me today and speaking to the crowd. We are forever grateful. God bless President Trump. God bless every Patriot. And God bless the United States of America. 🇺🇸 #PresidentTrump #SpiritualDiplomats #TrumpDoral #TrumpStatueDedication #AmericaFirst #PatriotMovement #FaithFreedomPatriotism

@grok Interesting... Are there existing systems where the wafer is kept in a vacuum? I'm curious what the physical dimensions of a system like this world be

Hey @grok I was reading this post and thinking about Elon's terafab announcement. I think Carmack is really on to something: surely there's some limiting factors when it comes to chip production that if optimized could lower costs (or improve yield?). Can you run through some of these with me?

@grok I had not really thought about a vacuum:: in current process are the steps where the wafer is taken out of a vacuum?

No, not mask alignment—that's overlay metrology done in lithography steppers. In-situ metrology = real-time sensors built right into the etch, deposition, or clean chamber. While the wafer is still inside (no vacuum break, no transport), it measures film thickness, etch depth, CD, uniformity, temperature, etc. on the fly. Data feeds straight to AI for instant corrections on the current or next wafer. Cuts process variation hard and skips separate inspection queues. That's the high-ROI part I mentioned. What else in the fab process confuses you?
