So, I went on a date a couple of days ago. We agreed to meet at 4pm. He showed up 40 minutes late which I tried to be understanding about, because traffic happens, but not once did he call or text to say he was running late. When he finally arrived, he texted to ask where I was seated. I replied, saw him walking in… and he was on a phone call. I stood up to greet him, but he didn’t excuse himself. He greeted me while still on the phone. I assumed it might be work, maybe a boss, a client, or even his mum, so I let it slide. He sat down. Still on the phone. From the conversation, it was clearly a casual call probably a sibling or a friend. Ten minutes later, he ended it with a loud laugh and said, “We’ll catch up again this weekend and have some more fun.” Only then did he finally give me his attention and introduce himself. We talked for a few minutes… until his phone rang again. He answered it. Then again. And again. He kept typing on his phone while I was talking. I got bored. At some point, he placed the phone on the table and said, “Tell me, I’m all ears.” I replied, “Never mind.” I ate my food while we made small talks until the phone thing happened again. That was it for me. I told him, “Please allow me to take my leave now. I need to go do something important.” He looked confused and said, “But I thought you said your evening was free.” I smiled and said, “I thought so too.” And that’s how I knew without a doubt that was my first and last date with him.
