Scottish covid wastewater confirming every other metric - there is very little covid in the UK at the moment. Long may this last.

Honestly, you've got to have balls of steel to publish this graph and say without evidence that Covid has nothing to do with this fall. Especially since the press release the article is based on *doesn't even say that*.

@rwjdingwall @SafeDavid3 More importantly, HSE did not consider SURGICAL MASKS suitable for protection against airborne transmission - and yet, that’s all that healthcare workers were (and continue to be) given, despite indisputable evidence that Covid, & many other viruses are spread via aerosols.
Cat in the Hat 🐈‍⬛ 🎩 🇬🇧@_CatintheHat

Here is yet another clip from the Covid Inquiry… …this time from Richard Brunt, Director at the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), explaining how surgical masks may offer limited protection against droplet transmission, but do NOT protect against AIRBORNE transmission.

The Covid Inquiry Healthcare module found ‘no good reason to prevent patients from wearing their own masks’. @NHSE_WTE please help the NHS workforce to implement this after recent reports of people in Kent being asked to remove their FFP2/3 masks for surgical masks #MenB

Covid inquiry Module 3 report. One of the most important recommendations, to my mind, to emerge, is this. We, CVF fought for HEPA in the inquiry hearing room and I was the first person to wear a mask to give evidence in the inquiry. Now the work to get this implemented!

On my walk to work today I saw goldfinches, greenfinches, house sparrow, hedge sparrow, blue tit, great tit, jackdaws, blackbirds and a robin all collecting material for nests. The world is a mess, but Spring is a thing of wonder.

Some people say "If it really damaged immunity, we’d all be constantly sick." Well. Have you not seen social media these last two years? Have you not seen sickness absence data?

You would not believe how many times I have started writing this thread and deleted it: 🚨Do Covid infections make you vulnerable to other infections, and if so - how, and for how long, and is it getting worse.

Before Covid came along, England was doing pretty well with meningococcal disease. Which is great because it's a disease that can *kill a healthy teenager within hours*... ... or leave them alive without limbs, hearing, or memory... But... and it's a really big but... 🧵

Now this is better! A proper 3M FFP2 headband respirator being worn correctly. Straps positioned correctly. This person is far better protected than those choosing to wear surgical masks. I'm glad some people have found out for themselves what the authorities failed to tell them.

@Telegraph Robert Dingwall, the guy who argued against interventions to stop Covid spreading back in 2020 & said we should just let it rip. 🤔 Meanwhile, in case anyone is interested, here’s what the UK Green Book & WHO have to say about how Meningitis transmits. Note the word “aerosols”.

4. Almost everyone from the UK and Ireland who I've spoken to over the past few days is unaware that antiviral medication exists for influenza, and can be prescribed by any NHS or private GP. This is very telling.

1. As a result of the current high prevalence of influenza and the accompanying media coverage of the spread of the disease, I've been asked about mitigations by a number of friends who take *no precautions against SARS-CoV-2*. A few observations regarding these conversations:

This feels like an important breakthrough moment… On the BBC News this evening, Medical Editor @BBCFergusWalsh clearly stated: “As for facemasks, simple surgical masks are *not* good at stopping viruses. You really need a properly fitted tight respirator mask for that”… /1

@gwladwr @Mike_Honey_ As I understand it, this autumn's Pfizer vaccine (for which I've paid) covers one of the parents of XFG, so it should give some (though not complete) protection.
