Nigerians and I better pass my neighbor mentality. A guy was bragging to his neighbor that his electricity meter is always green and his neighbour's is always red - a sign of poverty. I laughed when I heard it. Why do we do classism with the most basic things? Green or red, there is still light in the house. The neighbor on red might be making better use of his money. Assuming both average monthly consumption of ₦90,000 and they both sell groceries . The "poor" neighbor recharges 3000 on the first day and uses the 87,000 balance to stock up 8 cartons of indomie for sale. At an average retail sales of 2 cartons a day, he'll be making 3k profit daily. With the same 90,000 he can be recharging his daily 3k units and still retain his capital for over one year. Meanwhile the "rich" neighbor would have spent ₦1,080,000 on electricity bills alone! So who is the rich guy now? Be wise with your expenses. Tinubu economy no dey smile.

Men will view the status of fellow men making bread & whisper to themselves: "I need to step my game up, man". Women will view the snaps of women like Sophia Ogbuefi & whisper to themselves: "girllllll, I need to raise my standards, gat to stop attracting the broke boys".

One thing I discovered in my visits to South East is that if you as an Igbo man maltreats a stranger, you will be severely dealt with. If on the other hand a stranger offends you, they will beg you to pardon him or her, that he/she is a stranger. This phenomenon is captured by many proverbs. I will share three: 1. 'Ojemba enweghi iro' it means a traveller doesn't have enemies, Ndi igbo are born travellers so how can they be hostile with people in their region knowing those people will avenge in their own region. 2. 'ogbu onye biara na be ya adighi ike' meaning he who kills his visitor is a coward. 3. 'Obialu bee mu abiagbula mu, mgbe oga ala mkpumkpu apukwala na azu'. - May my visitor not kill me and on his departure, may he not have hunch back! Travelling indeed broadens the mind!

Any day my wife starts conditioning me on which of my children I can care for and which one I cannot, that’s the day we’ll have a very serious conversation. My daughter is my daughter. I will bath her myself when she’s still a child, I will feed her when she’s hungry. I will take her to school. I will help with her assignments. I will attend her events. I will comfort her when she cries and celebrate her when she succeeds. I will teach her confidence, discipline, self respect, and how to recognize people who genuinely care about her. I will teach her how to stand up for herself, make good decisions, and navigate life with wisdom. I will protect her, pray for her, guide her, and be present in her life every step of the way. Too many people act as though fathers are only meant to provide money while mothers do the parenting. I completely disagree. A good father is not just a sponsor, he is an active participant in raising his children. My daughter deserves a father who is involved both in bathing her when the need arises, will be available for her, and invested in her growth. She deserves to know that her father is not a stranger in his own home but a loving parent who takes his responsibilities seriously. She is my daughter, and I will never apologize for being a father to her.
Joy Oforezika@oforezika

I was having a zoom meeting when my daughter screamed. I have to pause to check on her. Apparently my husband wanted bathing her because I was busy. She have just returned from school. I shot both of them a daring glance and the house went quiet. My husband has been moody all day because I made a law never to bath any female child in our house. He said I am making him a threat to his kids. Is there a better way to explain my reasons to him because I don't know how to start.

I met someone who said Northerners don't appreciate culture and creativity. In my mind, I almost laughed. Because if there is one thing the North has preserved remarkably well, it is culture. This is a region where music, storytelling, architecture, fashion, poetry and craftsmanship have survived for generations. The intricate embroidery on traditional attire is creativity. The centuries old palaces are creativity. The folktales passed from grandparents to children are creativity. The leatherwork, pottery, weaving and beadwork are creativity. The films, books, paintings and music being produced across the region today are creativity too. Yet some people act as though creativity only exists when it looks familiar to them. They celebrate art when it comes from places they understand and overlook it when it comes from places they have never taken the time to learn about. The North's creativity may not always dominate international headlines, but it has shaped identities, communities and livelihoods for centuries. A culture does not survive this long without imagination. ImANorthernGirl

Youre right and I'll tell you why because I can. Given the circumstances of his marriage, they expect him to be miserable - as per Nollywood. They hate that he seemed to cover all bases - prenup, marriage, divorce + custody, removal of his ex as dependant, exoneration from DV claims and he is unapologetically loud. They don't care about whatever circumstances surrounded the marriage or dissolution just hate the fact that "a cheating gurl took an L". They hate that they can't troll him for his looks, career, pockets or his ability to pull 10s as he pleases + he is young. So why not zoom in, on his nostrils. Was he doing too much publicly at some point? Relatively yes. But I can rationally charge it to two possible factors: 1. He was genuinely also deeply affected by the way the marriage turned out & the repeated public crashout + need for some kind of validation was a necessary step to putting it behind, 2. When a situation puts you on the spotlight for the very first time, a lot of people don't know how to leverage on the overwhelming first round of applause & hang it there - they stretch it until the balance tilts. These are my honest assessments. Do these assessments justify the vitriol he's getting from women currently? No. He seems to be doing well and they hate his guts. The honest-to-god truth might be that - he might not be doing that well emotionally but he has refused to allow weakness be his public identity and doesn't conform to their definition of "humble".

Having sex and making love are not the same. Sex is primarily a physical act and is often associated with sexual intercourse. It can occur without emotional attachment and may be driven purely by physical desire. For example, rape is not lovemaking; it is a sexual act against an unwilling victim. Likewise, sex with a prostitute may involve physical intimacy without emotional connection. Making love, on the other hand, goes beyond the physical. It is an intimate and emotional expression of affection that strengthens the bond between two people. Both partners willingly participate, emotionally and physically, giving themselves to one another in trust and vulnerability. Lovemaking is a language of intimacy expressed through physical connection. It is not defined solely by penetration but by the emotional closeness, care, and mutual affection shared between partners. At its core, making love is about connection, bonding, and expressing love through physical intimacy. Having sex may include these elements, but it does not necessarily require the connection.

Yesterday morning, while I was vesting for mass in the sacristy, I looked at the cross-bearer. Through his body language, I knew he was a newbie. So I asked him if it was his first time, he said yes. I told him not to be afraid, and that he's free to make mistakes, because that's how we all learn. Procession neva reach three steps, my guy carry cross nack me for head 😂😭😭.

@jon_d_doe You have a point @jon_d_doe. It’s not just about Nigeria not taking part. I have wondered whether it is because of all the wars going on outside Nigeria and the insecurity in Nigeria but these didn’t seem to affect the Premier League. Abi Arsenal is bigger than the World Cup?😊

I know that Nigeria is not participating in the upcoming world cup, but be sincere. Is there really a buzz or excitement that such a big global event is coming up? I don't see it, neither do I feel it. End.
