There's almost no way in the world people will intentionally spend an asset/money they believe would rise in value in the future over a money they know is losing value today. The Bitcoin community unknowingly started off on a wrong foot with the "HODL" mantra, and the constant chat about "Satck sats and stay humble". An early days innocent approach aimed at encouraging everyone to not give up on Bitcoin even when the fiat valuation is tumbling. Unfortunately, that mantra wasn't redirected early and Bitcoin grew on it. Now, the closest remedy to making Bitcoin actual money which is spent everyday is by integrating Bitcoin into the traditional Financial system as the base layer asset being exchanged. @ericyakes described this in one of his (Epoch) annual publications, where he explained a future where Bitcoin could serve the same purpose as an underlying asset powering the already existing fiat financial system. @halfin (of blessed memory) also envisioned and captured this correctly when he opined the emergence of Bitcoin banks in a rejuvenated free-banking settings. Thankfully, a lot of teams are already building towards this. The @standard_sats team is building the Fiat channels, a Lightning protocol coined from the parent Hosted channels which enables creation of synthetic stable fiat assets backed by Bitcoin via hedging, @blinkbtc also has such similar implementation called Stable Dollar in their flagship wallet, there's also the Stable Sats guys who got some funding from I think @OpenSats in one of their grant rounds. The idea is simply having Fiat value transmitted through Sats. Thankfully, some of these developments ensures privacy, reasonable decentralization (anyone can spin up a node an offer this service), and and auditability (like in Fiat channels). With further research and development, they could metamorphose into the solid background for powering the global financial world with Bitcoin underneath. It is still sats moving, but transmitting fiat denominated values. The community should look towards this direction. The earlier the better.
