#PlanningAuthority resumed direct action (DA) on a large illegal scrapyard located in Xewkija's ODZ. This follows the DA which had commenced in November 2022, but which had been stopped through a warrant of prohibitory injunction instituted by the contravener against the PA.

With major renovation works at Teatru Salesjan in Sliema soon drawing to an end, the #PlanningAuthority has committed a further €138,000 towards the project’s completion. In total, the PA has committed over €230k towards this successful project.

An application which sought to demolish an existing corner terraced house and get replaced by an apartment block in Fgura has been refused by the #pamalta. The Commission cited that the proposed building height will ruin the streetscapes in and around Pjazza Patri Redent Gauci.

#pamalta has refused to renew a development permit for the construction of a proposed residential block in Marsaxlokk near a Grade 2 Protected Building. The Commission cited that the site’s constraints had changed since the permit had been issued back in July 2018.

The Irrestawra Darek grant scheme received an overwhelming response from applicants within minutes of its launch. As a result, the category for private owners of residences located within an Urban Conservation Area (UCA) has been closed due to high demand and over-subscription.

Direct action is underway on the illegal extensions at the Pieta Bocci Club. The site is covered by an enforcement notice and the extensions are impacting on the military glacis which carry a Grade 1 protection status. More details to follow.

In the past days, the Planning Authority took direct action on an illegal fuel depot with a potential storage capacity of 2.3 million litres of fuel. The site was being illegally operated by a local fuel supplier, and therefore unregulated.

The Planning Board requested, amongst other amendments, for the applicant of a proposed new apartment block which is close to the Grade 1 Ta’ Kola windmill in Xaghra, to further reduce its overall height.
