The truthnuke of therapy is that being hyperaware won't do you any good with the shit you internalized, and is just your brain trying to rationalize stuff to feel in control as a coping mechanism. Unlearning shitty mechanisms is way harder than knowing they're there or why.

@meloncrab I get it: even where I am, the pubblic available therapy is kinda laughable and it's fine if you're in urgent need of containing an extreme situation, but not much more.

I think the issue is that talk therapy is still the only therapy offered most places and when you already know what the hell is wrong with you it doesn’t really help to be told you’re valid once a week.

@meloncrab In my experience talk teraphy can still do much even if you're a very selfanalyzing person,but the therapist needs to be able to deal with very intellectual (as in "cerebral"-not "smart") ppl.
That doesn't always happen unfortunately, so ppl can get dismissive of its efficacy.
