Bad experience at @McDonaldsUK in Parson’s Hill. Given wrong food, and it was cold. 👎🏻

@McDonaldsUK I was just served a McCrispy in Swindon Orbital branch which was cooked but fridge cold all the way through. How is this possible? Will I be ill?

@thevicarswife @grahampointer72 We started an evening service in January. It's going well! We're drawing a different crowd and it's quite busy. FWIW I recommend giving it a go.

@Rgt71Robert @churchofengland He spent 5 years at Coventry cathedral leading the International Centre for Reconciliation. But apart from that, no credentials at all. I think this post is particularly mean-spirited, Robert.

Reconciliation without truth is just rebranding. Justin’s retirement rebranding should disgust all people both within @churchofengland and beyond who are concerned about abuse in any of our public institutions and society at large. Reconciliation is simply not a brand to be worn or an enterprise to be pursued in retirement by a former Archbishop forced to retire because he could not even face personally those abused by the church and consistently failed to meet with them. Reconciliation is rather a cost to be paid in truth for those who who have been abused. Until those who were wounded are heard, honoured, and answered, any claim to ‘reconciliation’ is empty words spoken over unhealed ground. Justin has no credentials to be a reconciler. He is just using a former ecclesial position for maximization of financial income in retirement. This is totally morally vacuous.

The ordination of women cannot be sacramental. By definition, a sacrament is a "sure and certain means by which we receive grace." But when you tinker with the ourward and visible sign, you take away the surety and certainty of the inward and spiritual grace.

@Rgt71Robert I think it's ok (encouraged?) for Christians to hold a different moral viewpoint to wider society.

What colleagues and common Christians like Yaroslav simply ignore is the larger democratic issue that I raise. At the moment it just seems that some Christians just want their own way no matter what anybody else thinks no matter what elected representatives decide..:
Yaroslav Sky Walker@FrYSWalker

Oh come on! No one can honestly, hand on heart, truly claim the work of the HoC was considered. The committee was majority supporters. They refused to hear evidence from bodies opposed...even when they had legitimate expertise! Lament, but be honest...

@talkChristianly I agree. I happen to think that the complete absence of a sexual ethic from LLF, particularly from the fudge we ended up with, was its undoing. If the church no longer believes that marriage is the ideal for sexual intimacy then what on earth *are* we saying about marriage?

Fascinating comment piece from @AngelaTilby in the Church Times. But I'm surprised she didn't reference LLF. Ironically I think it's the very clarity of the BCP on fornication which was one of the (largely unspoken) reasons the bishops realised they couldn't redefine marriage.

@MadsDavies @spectator A lovely vicar once told me he didn't speak to newcomers because he didn't want to scare them off. Not many people came back, unsurprisingly...

@paulfreeland @spectator Agree. I think it’s also a bit of a luxury belief for people who already have social contact and friends. If you don’t - and we know loneliness is a massive issue - going in to church and nobody greeting you is… not great. Paul Bayes was great on the Church and friendship

Rory Sutherland offers his counterintuitive idea for how the churches can fill their pews. Walking into a church, he argues, is like walking into a car dealership, the moment you cross the threshold, someone is on you and there is no easy way out. His solution? Offer try-before-you-buy browsing: let people come in quietly and experience a service without any social pressure. @rorysutherland | @holysmoke

We had over 500 people in church today. I’m afraid I still think the Quiet Revival thing wasn’t totally wrong.

@WalkerMarcus I'm definitely an Easter Sunday fan. When communicating with an untrained populace, surely it's helpful for people to know which day of the week we're inviting them to join us?

@ClarkeMicah @ChurchTimes "Jesus burst into tears" was @profntwright translation. I find it moving and illuminating. It speaks of both Jesus's humanity and his divinity. You don't always need poetic or ancient language for transcendency.

I missed this news back in January - a C of E curate on Gladiators. “At the centre of my faith is that Jesus showed us mercy, but on Gladiators, I’m going to be showing none.” Haha. durhamdiocese.org/diocesan-news/…

Tremendous morning here at St Mary’s, Sunbury-on-Thames as thirteen new Saints of God are confirmed by the Bishop of Kensington as we enter into Holy Week. The star of the show of course, as always, is Declan the Donkey….
