@NWS_MountHolly I am an Allentown native but live far away now. Still a weather nerd though, so I have to ask - that isn’t a typo?? I was a kid in 1994 and all the schools closed for that cold. I heard no mention that something even rivaling that was forecast. Was it a surprise?

This AM's lows at our airport stations were mostly not unusual. There were 2 exceptions: -9° at Allentown's Lehigh Valley Int. AP was the coldest in exactly 32 years, when it was -15° on 1/21/1994. -1° at Trenton-Mercer AP was the coldest in 8 years, when it was -2° on 1/7/2018.

Boston snuck below 60F for the first time since late June this morning. Sandy soil/valley locations down into the 40s. Absolutely splendid out there this afternoon! If I could freeze a one-month period of the year around here, it would be mid-Aug to mid-Sept.

A pocket of heavy rain near Cold Creek in the Spring Mountains may result in elevated steam flows and water in low water crossings on Cold Creek Road. Turn around if you encounter flood waters. Rain will gradually taper by sunset. #nvwx

@NWSVegas I got 1.26 inches in my rain gauge. Usually accurate, but seems like quite an outlier if only 0.57 fell at LAS. I am 10 miles W of downtown
