The problem for Trump is that all the nonpartisan public polling says that significantly higher numbers of Americans will blame him for tonight’s government shutdown than Hakeem Jeffries.
And with Trump so deeply underwater already on the kitchen table issues that Americans actually care about (inflation, jobs, health care, etc.) he has very little wiggle room to take another hit here.
