Remembering all the the times in medical school I’ve been asked to do classic things such as 1) go off-site to buy coffees for team, 2) hold the consultant’s jacket while he enters a patient’s room, 3) move the registrar’s 4WD

something that's been on my heart a while: judging art primarily on the grounds of its social/ideological function is media illiteracy for smart people. if you can't begin by surrendering to an aesthetic experience, you have no business writing criticism

The new Christopher Nolan film tackles afresh “what made Oppenheimer tick.” But if you’re already convinced of the dangers of nuclear war, superseded only by the ongoing series of climate catastrophes, this film is going to lack a certain urgency. jacobin.com/2023/07/christ…

Dunno if anyone working in medicine can relate but feel like hate my job not because it’s tedious or boring but because it’s hard and stressful and I feel like I fail patients every single day

The worst thing about being on holidays is that I’m always very creative as to where I’ve hidden my laptop and keys back at home and now I cannot for the life me remember where I put them

@LewyHughey Even worse in Australia: a single exam (which is required for getting in to any surgical program but by no means a guarantee) cost me 4.5k AUD( 2.4k pounds equivalent) in a single go. Absolutely not cost price either. With a 40% failure rate.
